As part of our commitment to providing safe and reliable student transportation, the School Bus Assistant will support the bus driver in effectively managing the movement and care of students while they are boarding, traveling, and disembarking from the vehicle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist students in safely entering and exiting the bus.
- Ensure ethical conduct and personal integrity by reporting any suspicious or inappropriate behavior to a supervisor or manager.
- Secure students using seat belts, car seats, or wheelchair restraints as necessary.
- Serve as a role model, demonstrating a positive attitude, good moral character, and integrity.
- Monitor student behavior at all times, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and conduct rules.
- Exercise communication and discipline regarding student management, in alignment with company policy.
- Document and report any violations or behavioral concerns to the appropriate authority.
- Safely evacuate passengers from the vehicle in emergency situations.
- Ensure that children remember to take their belongings upon leaving the bus.
- Assist the driver in maintaining a clean and presentable vehicle interior.
- Complete and submit required paperwork promptly to the appropriate departments.
- Exhibit the highest standards of ethical and professional behavior while interacting with coworkers, supervisors, parents, and school personnel.
- Present a neat and professional appearance at all times.
- Arrive punctually for scheduled duties and perform all responsibilities safely.
- Attend all mandatory training sessions, safety meetings, and in-service meetings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old. For New York School Bus Assistants, the minimum age is 19 years, as per state law.
- Candidates must meet specific physical and medical requirements.
