Marshall Public Schools serves over 2,700 students from pre-kindergarten to grade 13 across eight school buildings within the Marshall and Albion communities. HOURS:
Monday to Friday: 6 hours per day; 30 hours per week
OPENINGS:
1 position – Route 1A (6:00 AM – 9:00 AM; 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM)

REGULAR ROUTE RATE OF PAY:
$21.50 – $23.00 per hour
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent
- A valid Michigan Chauffeur’s license with B, P, S endorsements and air brakes (must pass State Skill and written tests)
- A clean driving record
- Successful completion of a physical examination including drug testing
- Compliance with all State requirements for Bus Driver Certification
- Ability to lift and move objects weighing over 60 pounds
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with children and adults
- A calm and patient demeanor

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Bus drivers are responsible for providing safe and efficient transportation for students to and from school. They must adhere to all traffic regulations set forth by the Michigan Department of Transportation and the State of Michigan.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate a school bus safely and professionally
- Adhere to all traffic ordinances
- Maintain student discipline on the bus
- Follow discipline policies as outlined in the School Code of Conduct approved by the district’s Board of Education
- Utilize established routes and designated bus stops
- Operate according to an approved time schedule
- Carry out all housekeeping duties, both inside and outside of the bus
- Complete daily maintenance sheets and submit them to the Director of Transportation
- Promptly report any maintenance issues in writing to the Director of Transportation or Bus Garage Mechanic
- Discharge students only at authorized stops
- Transport only authorized students
- Participate in on-site training sessions
- Demonstrate proficiency in handling and maneuvering the school bus
