Job description:

This is a hybrid role, requiring in-office presence one day per week on Collaboration Wednesdays at our Novi office.

Altarum is seeking a skilled and motivated Business Intelligence Specialist with a strong background in data analysis to develop, implement, and manage Business Intelligence and reporting solutions utilizing Power BI, Cognos Analytics, and other relevant tools. The ideal candidate will possess 4 to 7 years of experience in Business Intelligence and data analysis, demonstrating the ability to convert data into actionable insights that inform strategic business decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Generate comprehensive reports, visualizations, dashboards, and metrics to deliver business insights and facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Utilize Power BI and Excel to present data in a clear and meaningful manner.
  • Construct analytical data models, oversee data integration and preparation, and enhance the business utilization of data.
  • Execute ETL operations for loading data into Power BI to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Develop data warehouses for reporting and analytical purposes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and comprehend business needs.
  • Deliver timely BI solutions that align with business requirements.
  • Partner with data stewards and data/application owners to enhance the quality, accessibility, and usability of enterprise data assets.
  • Optimize and maintain existing Power BI solutions to improve performance and user experience.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity through regular audits and validation.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation encompassing design specifications, requirements, schemas, and data models, among other aspects.
  • Adhere to data governance and security policies.
  • Train and support business users in the effective utilization of Power BI.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, tools, and technologies to continually augment the BI function and promote business growth.
  • Share innovative concepts for evaluating new data analytics and AI technologies to meet the organization’s information requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Business Intelligence Specialist or Analyst with proficiency in Power BI, Cognos Analytics, Tableau, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft BI stack, including Power BI, SSIS, Microsoft SQL Server, or Microsoft Fabric.
  • Expertise in data modeling, DAX, and M code within Power BI.
  • Experience with data integration and ETL processes to connect Power BI with various data sources.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to translate complex data into meaningful insights.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to engage effectively with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with Costpoint, UKG, and Cognos Analytics is a plus.
  • A self-starter with enthusiasm and a quick learning aptitude; must possess extensive reporting and analytics experience and a desire to grow technically through practical experience.
  • A Master’s degree is advantageous.

Logistical Requirements:

  • Candidates must currently be eligible to work in the United States, and sponsorship will not be provided.
  • All work must be conducted within the continental U.S. during your employment unless otherwise specified by contract.
  • For those in proximity to our offices in Arlington, Silver Spring, Novi, or Portland, this role will be hybrid, requiring in-office presence on Wednesdays.
  • Candidates must be able to work in Eastern Time unless approved by their manager.
  • Remote employees must have a dedicated, ergonomically suitable workspace free from distractions, equipped with a mobile device to facilitate efficient business operations.

Compensation for this position ranges from $100,206 to $115,500 per year.
