Job description:
Entry-level Receptionist Position providing an excellent opportunity to embark on a career in a clinical environment.
Under the supervision of the designated site leader, you will perform various business and office maintenance tasks, including but not limited to managing patient appointments, registration, billing functions, cash collection, and phone communications, all while adhering to established policies and procedures. Exceptional customer service skills are essential, as is a commitment to the Corewell philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care.
Essential Functions:
You will utilize your strong interpersonal and communication skills to answer phone calls and direct them to the appropriate area or personnel, ensuring effective communication that accommodates patients’ age, culture, and developmental needs. Accessing computerized appointment information is necessary to facilitate patient examinations, and you will be responsible for initializing required paperwork for each procedure, including patient verification and confirmation of physician’s orders.
Scheduling appointments and consulting with physicians or their offices as necessary will be part of your duties, along with managing film purging and transfers. You will provide assistance over the phone, address customer inquiries promptly, and enforce patient privacy and confidentiality at all times. Monitoring inventories related to the role and placing orders as needed will also fall under your purview.
Additionally, you will maintain employee medical record correspondence in accordance with protocol, file medical records appropriately, and operate standard office equipment, including Microsoft Office Suite, calculators, photocopiers, dictation equipment, and fax machines.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Strong communication skills and sensitivity to the needs of others.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, self-motivate, and handle stressful situations effectively.
- Competence in managing multiple details within a fast-paced environment while providing outstanding customer service aligned with Corewell standards.
Preferred:
- A minimum of one year of experience in a clinical office setting.
- Basic computer skills.
