Job Title: Cadet (Part-Time/ Non-Benefited)

Company: Ottawa County

Location: West Olive, MI

Pay: $16.65 per hour

AI Pay Analysis: The hourly rate of $16.65 for a “Cadet (Part-Time/ Non-Benefited)” position in West Olive, MI, appears to be on the lower end of the spectrum for entry-level or part-time roles in similar sectors, particularly in areas related to law enforcement, military cadet programs, or internships. Nationally, entry-level roles often pay between $15 to $25 per hour depending on industry, experience, and location, while many positions in the same field tend to offer higher compensation to attract talent, especially given the rising cost of living and inflation. In Michigan, while the state minimum wage is $10.10, many employers offer compensation closer to or above $15 per hour to remain competitive. Therefore, while $16.65 may be acceptable, it may not be regarded as highly competitive within the context of prevailing wages for similar roles in the region.

Job description:
The cadet position offers college students majoring in criminal justice or related fields an invaluable pre-professional experience and insights into law enforcement operations. Cadets will have the opportunity to engage in a customer service role at the front desk of the Sheriff’s Office Headquarters, where they will answer phones and assist the public with a range of inquiries and tasks.
