Job Title: Case Aide

Company: Daybreak

Location: Dayton, OH

Pay: $18.36 per hour

AI Pay Analysis: The hourly rate of $18.36 for a Case Aide in Dayton, OH, appears to be competitive but slightly below the national average for similar positions. Typically, Case Aides can expect to earn between $19 to $25 per hour, depending on experience and specific job responsibilities. In Dayton, the cost of living is relatively lower than in larger metropolitan areas, which could contribute to the lower end of the pay scale. However, this rate may also reflect the funding structures of non-profit organizations or government agencies, which often dictate salary ranges for social service roles. Overall, while $18.36 is not far off from local norms, it might not fully align with industry expectations, suggesting room for negotiation or improvement if the organization aims to attract experienced candidates.

Job description:
Daybreak is seeking a Case Aide to contribute to our mission of providing essential services to homeless and vulnerable youth in the Miami Valley, fostering safety, stability, and well-being. This position is integral to realizing our vision of a promising future for all youth.

Benefits and Perks: Our comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance (PPO or HDHP), dental and vision coverage, life insurance (up to $50,000), supplemental life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, pet insurance, a retirement plan, an Employee Assistance Program, and generous paid time off, including 10 paid holidays, vacation accrual of up to 15 days (3 weeks) annually, and sick leave accruing up to 12 days annually. Daybreak also offers a hybrid work model (1 day a week) and flexible scheduling options.

About Us: Established in 1975 in Dayton, Ohio, Daybreak began as an emergency shelter for runaway and homeless youth. Today, we operate the only 24-hour crisis hotline and emergency youth shelter in the Miami Valley and have expanded our services to include outreach, prevention, transitional housing, life-skills education, and follow-up services for runaway, throwaway, and homeless youth.

Position Responsibilities: The Case Aide will facilitate life skills training, conduct life enrichment activities, manage group sessions, and provide tailored support services to LGBTQ+ youth and those participating in David’s Place services, as well as youth in residential units. This role involves assisting clients in goal-setting and development, fostering their engagement in services while ensuring compliance with agency, CARF, and funding standards.

Additionally, the Case Aide will help link participants with necessary supportive services and report directly to the Employment/Engagement Director for comprehensive assessment of needs and resources. Timely documentation of client records in accordance with OhioMHAS standards is essential, and productivity goals must be met as established by the program and agency protocols. Documentation, including clinical services paperwork, should be completed within 72 hours.

Collaboration with the client’s team is critical in organizing activities and life skills training aimed at restoring daily functioning skills. Assistance may include support in managing home responsibilities, finances, health care, medications, community resources, and other aspects of self-care in alignment with Individualized Treatment Plan (ITP) goals. Training could encompass cooking, cleaning, laundry, personal hygiene, budgeting, and parenting skills as applicable.

In partnership with the client’s team, the Case Aide will offer rehabilitation and support to strengthen social and interpersonal skills, enhancing the youth’s ability to maintain a household, build personal relationships, establish support networks, and develop coping strategies, while promoting effective functioning in their social environments, including home, work, and school. Skills development may involve adherence to daily schedules, housekeeping, participation in community social activities, physical fitness, visits to educational or vocational institutions, legal skills, transportation, emergency preparedness, and time management.

The Case Aide will empower and motivate youth through a strengths-based approach, utilizing natural and logical consequences to reinforce positive behaviors. This role will also participate in the development of group and individual activity schedules to enhance program and service delivery.

Position Requirements: A high school diploma or GED is required, with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a related field preferred. Experience with the target population is advantageous. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, adaptable, self-motivated, and possess strong problem-solving skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office. A valid driving record is essential, as transportation of clients will be a part of the role.

This position demands excellent documentation abilities, the capability to manage multiple tasks effectively, and a commitment to assisting clients in mastering essential life skills while adhering to defined productivity standards.
