Job description:

We are seeking to fill a full-time Cashier/Food Service Worker position immediately. This role is located at Andrews University, 8700 West Campus Circle Drive, Berrien Springs, MI 49104. Please note that we only accept online applications.

The full-time schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Further details will be provided during the interview process. Candidates must possess prior experience in customer service, food service, and point-of-sale operations.

Position Summary:
The Cashier/Food Service Worker will operate the Point of Sale system, assist the Chef, prepare coffee, and ensure cleanliness in both the coffee and cashier stations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of food items, including meats, vegetables, baked goods, and desserts, as well as catering orders.
  • Execute cashier responsibilities utilizing the POS system.
  • Maintain cleanliness by performing general cleaning duties and managing waste disposal.
  • Provide exceptional service in all retail areas, including cashiering and serving food.
  • Adhere to cash handling procedures, ensuring accuracy with receipts and making end-of-shift deposits.
  • Inventory and restock supplies and food products as needed.
  • Set up the serving line, monitoring food temperatures and reporting any discrepancies to the kitchen staff.
  • Serve both hot and cold menu items to customers.
  • Regularly organize items for purchase.
  • Ensure the refrigerator is well-stocked and product rotation follows the first-in, first-out rule.
  • Maintain pantry stock at designated levels and record replenishment amounts on the floor stock forms.
  • Document refrigerator temperatures on a daily basis on the floor stock form.
  • Perform other assigned duties as necessary.
