Position Summary:
The Catering Manager plays a vital role in supporting and overseeing catering activities while assisting concession managers with the efficient management of concessions operations as required. This individual will independently initiate and authorize all employment decisions, including hiring, termination, suspension, discipline, promotion, and transfer. The Catering Manager will actively manage employee relations to foster a positive, compliant, and collaborative work environment, as well as address performance issues effectively.
Key responsibilities include ensuring high levels of event oversight, technical proficiency, and operational support to facilitate seamless event execution. A crucial aspect of this role is mentoring, training, and guiding employees and volunteers to achieve company quality standards. The Catering Manager is expected to uphold excellent attendance and maintain a flexible, event-driven schedule that may include evenings and weekends. Candidates must demonstrate open availability, professional presentation, exceptional interpersonal skills, self-direction, and strong technical aptitude (including proficiency with computers and POS systems).
Compensation for this role will range from $50,000 to $60,000. Benefits for full-time positions include health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with matching contributions, and paid time off (including vacation, sick leave, and 12 holidays). This position will remain open until December 31, 2024.
Responsibilities:
– Assist in the effective management of catering and concessions operations.
– Ensure full compliance with all alcohol service policies, monitoring adherence throughout events and reporting any compliance issues to management promptly.
– Provide ongoing direction, supervision, and mentorship to hourly event staff, monitoring product quality and ensuring a high standard of guest service.
– Troubleshoot technical issues with Point of Sale systems from both hardware and software perspectives.
– Assist with vault opening, closing, and balancing as necessary.
– Generate event employee schedules and verify employee time as required.
– Support the ongoing training, development, mentorship, and supervision of hourly employees, documenting performance and attendance issues in line with company policies.
– Manage catered events from setup to teardown, facilitating communication among hourly staff, culinary teams, and guests.
Qualifications:
– Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
– Three to five (3-5) years of experience in catering or concessions.
– Concessions Manager Certificate from the National Association of Concessionaires.
– Certification from a nationally recognized, advanced food service sanitation training course.
– Proficiency in inventory cost control and menu planning.
– Basic computer skills: Proficient in email, Excel, Word, Outlook, and Schedule+.
– Working knowledge of Point of Sale and timekeeping systems.
– Cash handling abilities, with basic math skills, including significant number manipulation.
– Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including evenings and weekends based on event and business needs.
– Strong verbal and written communication skills.
