Job description:

The Catering Manager is responsible for providing support and oversight for Catering activities while assisting concession managers in the efficient and profitable management of concession operations as needed. This role entails independently initiating and authorizing employment actions, including hiring, termination, suspension, discipline, promotion, and transfer. The Catering Manager will actively manage all aspects of employee relations to foster a positive, harmonious, compliant, and cooperative work environment.

Additionally, this position includes oversight and resolution responsibilities for employee performance issues, with a focus on delivering high levels of event oversight, technical proficiency, and operational support to ensure seamless execution of assigned events. A key responsibility of the Catering Manager is to mentor, train, and assist employees and volunteers in meeting company quality standards. Maintenance of excellent attendance and the ability to work a variable event-driven schedule, including evenings and weekends, is essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate open availability, a professional demeanor, outstanding interpersonal skills, self-direction, and strong technological aptitude, especially with computers and POS systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the effective management of Catering and Concessions operations.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all alcohol service policies, actively monitoring service throughout events and reporting any compliance issues to management.
  • Provide ongoing direction, supervision, and mentoring to event staff, ensuring high product quality and guest service standards.
  • Assist with troubleshooting technical issues related to Point of Sale systems, encompassing both hardware and software concerns.
  • Aid in the vault opening, closing, and balancing process as necessary.
  • Generate employee schedules for events and verify time records as required.
  • Contribute to the ongoing training, development, mentoring, and oversight of hourly employees as directed by department managers, including documentation of performance and attendance issues in accordance with company practices.
  • Manage catered events from set-up to tear down, facilitating communication between staff, culinary teams, and guests.

Qualifications:

  • An Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of three to five years of experience in catering or concessions.
  • Concessions Manager Certificate from the National Association of Concessionaires.
  • Certification from a nationally recognized advanced food service sanitation training course.
  • Familiarity with inventory cost control and menu planning.
  • Basic computer proficiency in email, Excel, Word, Outlook, and Schedule+.
  • Working knowledge of Point of Sale and timekeeping systems.
  • Cash handling capabilities and basic math skills, including significant number manipulation.
  • Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including evenings and weekends as required by event and business needs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
