Position Purpose:
The Driver is responsible for operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight deliveries. The primary objective is to deliver and unload food and food-related products to customers efficiently and safely while adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The driver will communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues to ensure that inquiries are addressed accurately and in a timely manner. Collaboration as a team member within the department and organization is essential, and the driver must fulfill any duties assigned to effectively meet the company’s needs.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

– Conducting all required safety checks (including pre/post trip inspections) for the tractor/truck and trailer in accordance with DOT regulations, ensuring compliance with company safety standards, and taking appropriate action on identified issues.
– Adhering to all DOT regulations and following company safe driving guidelines and policies.
– Promptly reporting any safety hazards; inspecting trailers to ensure freight is loaded and secured correctly.
– Performing count checks of items and verifying customer invoices for loaded products. Completing all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
– Positioning the tractor at the loading dock and attaching preloaded trailers as necessary.
– Delivering customer orders on a predetermined route delivery schedule, unloading products, and transporting items to designated storage areas.
– Conducting damage assessments on items, scanning deliveries, and consulting with supervisors regarding removal orders as per company policy. Verifying delivery with customers and obtaining necessary signatures; collecting payments where applicable.
– Loading customer returns onto the trailer and securing trailer doors, ensuring that all equipment is properly locked and secured.
– Unloading damaged goods and customer returns, completing necessary paperwork and managing waste removal as required.
– Completing daily logs of service hours in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company regulations.
– Maintaining housekeeping duties within the tractor, loading dock area, and ensuring trailers are kept clear and clean. Securing equipment and completing all required paperwork at the end of each shift.
– Performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

– High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
– A minimum of 6 months of tractor-trailer experience.
– Valid CDL-A license.
– Compliance with all state licensing and certification requirements (where applicable).
– A clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
– Ability to pass a post-offer drug test and a criminal background check.
– Successful completion of a road test.
– Attainment of, or ability to secure, a valid current DOT Health Card.
– Capability to hand-lift and utilize equipment such as a two-wheeler, lift gate, and other tools to move and stack product cases/freight of various sizes and weights, generally ranging from 10-35 pounds up to approximately 60-90 pounds, depending on the location.
