Position Purpose:
Food and food service delivery drivers play an essential role in the nation’s food supply chain. Our drivers ensure that customer products are delivered on schedule and in optimal condition while serving as the face of our company and fostering lasting relationships with clients.

The driver is responsible for operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck across local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes, delivering and unloading food and related products safely and efficiently, in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:
– Communicate and interact with customers, vendors, and co-workers professionally, ensuring accurate and timely responses to inquiries.
– Collaborate effectively as a team member within the department and organization, performing any assigned duties that best serve the company.
– Conduct all mandated safety checks (e.g., pre/post-trip inspections) on tractor/truck and trailer in accordance with DOT regulations, ensuring adherence to company safety standards.
– Report all safety concerns and repairs promptly.
– Comply with all DOT regulations and adhere to company driving guidelines and policies.
– Report any safety hazards immediately; inspect trailers to confirm that freight is properly loaded and secured.
– Perform count checks of items and verify customer invoices for loaded products.
– Accurately complete all necessary paperwork associated with freight.
– Position the tractor at the loading dock and attach preloaded trailers as necessary.
– Drive to and deliver customer orders according to the predetermined delivery schedule.
– Unload products from the trailer and safely transport items to designated customer storage areas.
– Conduct damage control checks on items, scan freight, and consult with a supervisor regarding order removals per company policy.
– Confirm the delivery of items with customers and obtain appropriate signatures.
– Collect payments (cash or checks) when required, load customer returns onto the trailer, and secure trailer doors.
– Ensure that the tractor, trailer, and freight are always properly locked and secured.
– Unload damaged goods and customer returns, bringing them to driver check-in while completing the requisite paperwork. Clear all equipment and materials from the trailer as needed.
– Maintain accurate daily records of hours of service and complete logs according to Federal DOT, state, and company standards.
– Perform general housekeeping duties within the tractor, loading dock area, and trailers as required.
– At the shift’s conclusion, secure all equipment and finalize all necessary paperwork.
– Execute other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
– High School Diploma or GED or state-approved equivalent.
– Minimum of 12 months commercial driving experience.
– Valid CDL-A.
– Must be at least 21 years of age.
– Meet all relevant state licensing and/or certification requirements (if applicable).
– Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years.
– Pass post-offer drug tests and criminal background checks.
– Successfully complete a road test.
– Possess a valid current DOT Health Card or be able to secure a new DOT Health Card.
– Ability to hand-lift and operate two-wheelers, lift gates, and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying sizes and weights throughout the shift; typically, product weights range from 10 to 35 pounds and may occasionally reach between 60 and 90 pounds, depending on the location.
