Position Details:

– Starting pay is $27 per hour, accompanied by a $7,000 sign-on bonus.
– This position is for a full-time company driver.
– The schedule is primarily night shifts, with dispatch times ranging from 2 PM to 7 PM.
– Drivers will return home daily after their routes.

Purpose:

The role of Food and Food Service Delivery Drivers is essential to the nation’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers ensure that customer products are delivered accurately and punctually, while also representing our company and cultivating lasting relationships with customers. The Hourly CDL-A Driver is tasked with operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck on local intrastate and interstate routes, including over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight deliveries. This role necessitates the safe and timely delivery and unloading of food and related products, in adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The driver is responsible for maintaining professional communication and interaction with customers, vendors, and coworkers, ensuring their inquiries are addressed promptly and accurately. They will function as a supportive team member within the department and organization, undertaking any necessary duties to further the interests of the company.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

– Conducting all mandated safety checks (e.g., pre/post trip inspections) of the tractor/truck and trailer per DOT regulations, ensuring they meet company safety standards, and taking appropriate action as necessary. Reporting any safety issues and required repairs.
– Adhering to all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines.
– Promptly reporting any safety hazards and inspecting trailers to confirm proper loading and securing of freight.
– Performing count checks of items and verifying customer invoices for loaded products. Completing all necessary paperwork related to freight accurately and legibly.
– Maneuvering the tractor to the loading dock and attaching preloaded trailers as necessary.
– Driving to and delivering customer orders along a predetermined route schedule. Unloading products and transporting items to designated storage areas at customer locations.
– Conducting damage control checks, scanning items, and notifying a supervisor about removals as per company policy. Verifying delivery with customers and obtaining necessary signatures, as well as collecting payments (cash or checks) where applicable.
– Loading customer returns onto the trailer and securing trailer doors, ensuring all equipment, including tractor and trailer, remains locked and secured.
– Managing the unloading of damaged goods and customer returns and ensuring proper check-in procedures are followed. Clearing trailers of all equipment, materials, and debris as required.
– Keeping a daily record of hours of service and logging in compliance with Federal DOT, state, and company regulations.
– Performing general housekeeping duties for the tractor and loading dock area, maintaining trailer cleanliness. At the end of shifts, securing all equipment and completing necessary paperwork.
– Carrying out other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

– High School Diploma or GED required.
– A minimum of one year of experience driving a tractor-trailer.
– Valid CDL-A license.
– Compliance with all state licensing and/or certification requirements, where applicable.
– Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years.
– Successful completion of a post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
– Passing of a road test.
– Possession of a current DOT Health Card, or the ability to secure a new card.
– Capability to lift and utilize equipment such as a two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other tools to move and/or stack product cases of varying sizes and weights; products typically range from 10-35 pounds and can be up to 60-90 pounds depending on location.
