– This role is for a full-time company driver, working Tuesday through Friday.
– Driver routes allow for daily home returns.
Position Purpose:
The Driver is responsible for operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate local routes, over-the-road (OTR) deliveries, shuttle routes, and overnight drives for the purpose of delivering and/or unloading food and food-related products to customers in a safe and timely manner while adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. This role requires professional communication and interaction with customers, vendors, and co-workers, ensuring accurate and timely responses to inquiries. The Driver will function as a collaborative team member within the department and organization, executing any duty assigned to best serve the company.
Key Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
– Conducting all necessary safety checks (e.g., pre/post trip) including inspections of the truck and trailer to comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations; ensuring all vehicles meet company safety standards and addressing any issues promptly. Reporting all safety concerns and required repairs.
– Adhering to all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies.
– Promptly reporting any safety hazards, inspecting the trailer for properly loaded and secured freight.
– Performing a count check of items and verifying customer invoices for loaded products. Completing all required documentation associated with freight accurately and legibly.
– Maneuvering the tractor to the loading dock and attaching preloaded trailers as needed.
– Driving to and delivering customer orders according to a predetermined delivery schedule. Unloading products from the trailer and placing them in designated storage areas for customers.
– Conducting damage assessments on items, scanning, and informing the supervisor about any orders requiring removal in accordance with company policy. Confirming delivery of items with customers and obtaining necessary signatures. Collecting payments (cash or checks) where applicable.
– Loading customer returns onto the trailer and securely closing trailer doors. Ensuring that both the tractor and trailer, as well as the freight, are appropriately secured at all times.
– Unloading damaged goods and customer returns, delivering them to driver check-in, and completing the requisite paperwork. Clearing out all equipment and materials, and disposing of trash from trailers when required.
– Maintaining a daily record of service hours and logging accordingly per Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
– Performing general housekeeping duties within the tractor, loading dock area, and ensuring trailers remain organized and clean as necessary. At the end of the shift, securing all equipment and finalizing all necessary documentation.
– Completing additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
– High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent.
– A minimum of 6 months of tractor-trailer driving experience.
– A valid CDL-A license.
– Compliance with all state licensing and/or certification requirements (if applicable).
– A clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
– Successful completion of a post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
– Passing score on road test assessments.
– Possession of a valid current DOT Health Card or the ability to secure one.
– Capability to hand-lift and utilize equipment such as a two-wheeler, lift gate, and/or other tools to manage and stack product cases/freight of varying sizes and weights throughout the shift, typically ranging from 10 to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 60 to 90 pounds, depending on the location.
