Position Purpose:
Food and food service delivery drivers play a pivotal role in the country’s food supply chain. In addition to ensuring timely and safe delivery of products to our customers, you will represent our company and build lasting relationships with those we serve.
As a Shuttle Driver, you will be essential to our operations, responsible for transporting empty trailers to Operating Company warehouse locations and delivering full trailers to designated shuttle yard locations. You will operate tandem trailers, tractor trailers, and/or straight trucks on both intrastate and interstate routes, always adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. You will maintain professional communication with customers, vendors, and co-workers, ensuring that inquiries are addressed promptly and accurately. We seek a collaborative team member willing to perform any duty that enhances our service to the company.
Position Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct all required safety checks (e.g., pre/post-trip inspections) on tractor/truck and trailer in compliance with DOT regulations, ensuring adherence to company safety standards.
- Report safety issues or required repairs as necessary.
- Follow all DOT regulations and company driving policies, reporting safety hazards immediately and inspecting trailers for properly loaded and secured freight.
- Ensure all necessary route documentation accompanies the tractor trailer at the time of dispatch.
- Drive and deliver trailers according to a predetermined route schedule.
- Perform hook/unhook procedures in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Park and store tractor trailers in designated areas.
- Secure and lock all equipment and freight appropriately.
- Collect and secure damaged goods and customer returns in an empty trailer for return to the driver check-in at the base facility, completing necessary paperwork.
- Unload equipment and materials, and remove trash from trailers as required.
- Maintain a daily record of hours of service and log them according to federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
- Conduct general housekeeping maintenance in the tractor, loading dock area, and ensure trailers are kept clean and clutter-free as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of 12 months of commercial driving experience.
- High school diploma/GED or state-approved equivalent.
- Internal candidates must be in good standing.
- Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid CDL A with Doubles Endorsement.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Meet all applicable state licensing and/or certification requirements.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years.
- Availability for a 3rd shift schedule, Sunday through Thursday nights (specific schedules may vary).
- Pass a post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
- Successfully complete a road test.
- Possess a valid and current DOT Health Card or ability to secure one.
- Capacity to hand-lift and utilize equipment, such as a two-wheeler, lift gate, and/or other tools, to move or stack product cases/freight of varying sizes and weights throughout the shift (typically ranging from 10-35 pounds and occasionally between 60 and 90 pounds, depending on the location).
