Position Purpose:
The role of Food and Food Service Delivery Driver is integral to maintaining the integrity of the nation’s food supply chain. Our drivers ensure that customers receive their products on time and in pristine condition while also representing our company and cultivating strong customer relationships.
As a Shuttle Driver, you will be crucial to our operations, responsible for transporting empty trailers to operational warehouse locations and delivering full trailers to designated yards. Your responsibilities will involve driving tandem trailers, tractor-trailers, and/or straight trucks across intrastate and interstate routes, adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. You will also engage and communicate with customers, vendors, and co-workers professionally, ensuring prompt and accurate responses to inquiries. Collaboration as a team member is essential as you perform additional duties to enhance our service to the community.
Position Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
– Conducting required safety checks (i.e., pre/post-trip) and inspecting vehicles according to DOT regulations, ensuring they meet company safety standards and addressing any issues that arise.
– Reporting safety concerns and necessary repairs without delay.
– Adhering to all DOT regulations and company safety guidelines, promptly reporting any safety hazards and ensuring secure loading of freight.
– Ensuring that all route documentation is prepared and available upon dispatch.
– Implementing delivery routes according to an established schedule.
– Following safety protocols during hook/unhook procedures.
– Properly parking and storing trailers in designated areas.
– Securing all equipment and freight at all times.
– Returning damaged goods and customer returns to the driver check-in at base facility, completing the necessary documentation.
– Unloading materials and maintaining cleanliness of trailers.
– Keeping a daily log of hours of service in compliance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
– Performing housekeeping duties in the vehicle, loading dock area, and maintaining clear and clean trailers.
– Completing other related tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
– Minimum of 12 months of commercial driving experience.
– High school diploma or GED, or state-approved equivalent.
– Internal candidates must be in good standing within the organization.
– Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
– Valid CDL A with Doubles Endorsement.
– Must be at least 21 years of age.
– Compliant with all state licensing and certification requirements, where applicable.
– Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years.
– Availability to work the required 3rd shift schedule from Sunday to Thursday nights (schedules may vary).
– Successful completion of post-offer drug tests and background checks.
– Ability to pass a road test.
– Possession of a valid current DOT Health Card, or capability to obtain one.
– Capacity to hand-lift and utilize a two-wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment for managing product cases/freight of varying sizes and weights throughout the shift; typical product weight ranges from 10 to 35 pounds, with occasional items weighing up to approximately 60 to 90 pounds.
