Position Details:

Position Purpose:
Food and food service delivery Drivers are essential to maintaining the integrity of our nation’s food supply chain. Our drivers not only ensure timely and safe delivery of products but also serve as representatives of our company, cultivating enduring relationships with our customers.
As a Shuttle Driver, you will play a pivotal role in our operations by transporting empty trailers to Operating Company warehouse locations and delivering full trailers to designated domicile or shuttle yard locations. You will operate tandem trailers, tractor-trailers, and/or straight trucks on both intrastate and interstate routes. This position involves adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations while ensuring the safe and timely delivery of various products, while also professionally engaging with customers, vendors, and co-workers. Additionally, you will collaborate as a team member across departments and undertake any assigned duties that enhance company service.

Position Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting comprehensive pre- and post-trip safety checks of the tractor/truck and trailer in accordance with DOT regulations, ensuring compliance with company safety standards and taking necessary action where requirements are not met.
  • Reporting any safety concerns or required repairs promptly.
  • Adhering to all DOT regulations and company driving policies, reporting safety hazards immediately, and inspecting trailers for properly loaded and secured freight.
  • Ensuring that all route paperwork is present with the tractor-trailer load and available upon dispatch.
  • Operating and delivering trailers according to a predetermined route schedule.
  • Executing hook/unhook procedures adhering to established safety guidelines.
  • Storing tractor-trailers in designated areas safely.
  • Securing all equipment and freight appropriately at all times.
  • Collecting and securing damaged goods and customer returns in empty trailers for check-in at the base facility, completing all necessary documentation.
  • Unloading equipment and materials, as well as clearing trash from trailers as required.
  • Maintaining a daily record of hours of service in compliance with Federal DOT, state, and company regulations.
  • Performing general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and ensuring trailers are kept clear and clean.
  • Undertaking other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 12 months of commercial driving experience.
  • High school diploma, GED, or state-approved equivalent.
  • Internal candidates must be in good standing.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid CDL A with Doubles Endorsement.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must meet all state licensing and certification requirements (where applicable).
  • A clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years.
  • Availability for a third-shift schedule, specifically Sunday to Thursday nights (schedules may vary).
  • Ability to pass a post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
  • Successful completion of a road test.
  • Valid current DOT Health Card or ability to obtain one.
  • Capacity to hand-lift and utilize a two-wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move and stack product cases/freight of varying sizes and weights, generally ranging from 10-35 pounds to approximately 60-90 pounds, depending on location.
