Position Purpose:
Food and food service delivery drivers play a vital role in the national food supply chain. Our delivery drivers ensure that customers’ products are delivered to their destinations on time and in excellent condition while serving as the face of our company and fostering lasting relationships with our clients. The Driver, Formula CDL-A is responsible for operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck to execute intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight deliveries, all while adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:
– Communicate and interact with customers, vendors, and colleagues in a professional manner, ensuring timely and accurate responses to inquiries.
– Collaborate as a team member within the department and organization, fulfilling any assigned duties to best serve the company.
– Conduct all required safety checks, including pre/post trip inspections of the tractor/truck and trailer following DOT regulations, and address any safety standards not met.
– Report all safety-related issues and required repairs promptly.
– Adhere to all DOT regulations and company safe driving policies.
– Immediately report safety hazards and ensure that freight is properly loaded and secured in the trailer.
– Perform count checks of items and verify customer invoices for loaded products.
– Accurately complete all requisite paperwork associated with freight to ensure legibility.
– Maneuver the tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailers as necessary.
– Drive and deliver customer orders according to a pre-established route schedule.
– Unload products from the trailer and transport items to designated customer storage areas.
– Conduct damage control checks on items, scan for discrepancies, and consult a supervisor regarding the removal of orders in accordance with company policy.
– Obtain proper signatures from customers to verify the delivery of items.
– Collect payment (cash or checks) where required, and secure customer returns in the trailer.
– Ensure the security of the tractor, trailer, and freight at all times.
– Unload damaged goods and customer returns and deliver them to the driver check-in, completing the necessary paperwork. Remove all equipment, materials, and trash from trailers as required.
– Maintain a daily log of hours of service in compliance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
– Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and ensure that trailers remain clear and clean as needed.
– At the end of the shift, secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
– Undertake other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
– High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
– 1 year of commercial driving experience
– Valid CDL-A
– Must be 21 years of age or older
– Comply with all state licensing and/or certification requirements (as applicable)
– Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years
– Successfully pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check
– Pass road test
– Possess or secure a valid current DOT Health Card
– Ability to lift and use a two-wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying sizes and weights throughout the shift; products typically range from 10-35 pounds, with some up to approximately 60-90 pounds, depending on location

Preferred Qualifications:
– High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
– Experience with onboard computer and electronic log systems (e.g., PeopleNet)
– Familiarity with hand-held point of delivery scanning systems (e.g., POD)
– Experience in customer service-related roles
