Position Purpose:
Food and food service delivery drivers are essential to maintaining the integrity of the national food supply chain. Our drivers ensure timely and safe delivery of products to customers, serving as the face of our organization and building lasting relationships.

The Driver, Formula CDL-A is tasked with operating a tractor trailer or straight truck for intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight deliveries. Responsibilities include delivering and/or unloading food and related products in a safe and timely manner, ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:

– Professionally communicate and engage with customers, vendors, and colleagues to address inquiries promptly and accurately.
– Collaborate effectively as a team member within the department and across the organization, performing any necessary duties to enhance overall service.
– Conduct all required safety checks (i.e., pre/post trip) and inspections of the tractor/trailer in accordance with DOT regulations, taking necessary actions to uphold company safety standards.
– Report any safety issues or required repairs immediately.
– Adhere to all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies.
– Report any safety hazards promptly and confirm the secure loading of freight.
– Perform a count check of items and verify customer invoices for loaded products.
– Accurately complete all requisite paperwork related to freight in a clear and legible manner.
– Transition the tractor to the loading dock and secure preloaded trailers as needed.
– Navigate predetermined routes to deliver customer orders efficiently.
– Unload products from the trailer and transport them to designated storage areas at the customer’s location.
– Execute damage control checks on items, scan products, and coordinate with supervisors for removal based on company policy.
– Confirm the delivery of items with customers and obtain proper signatures.
– Collect payments (cash or checks) when required, manage customer returns by securing them on the trailer, and ensure trailer doors are secure.
– Maintain security of the tractor, trailer, and freight at all times.
– Process damaged goods and customer returns by delivering them to the driver check-in and completing the necessary paperwork; clear trailers of all equipment and debris as needed.
– Maintain a daily record of hours of service in compliance with Federal DOT, state, and company standards.
– Uphold housekeeping standards within the tractor, loading dock area, and trailers.
– At the end of each shift, secure all equipment and complete required documentation.
– Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
– High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
– Minimum of 6 months of commercial driving experience.
– Valid CDL-A license and a minimum age of 21.
– Compliance with state licensing and certification requirements (as applicable).
– Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years.
– Successfully pass post-offer drug tests and criminal background checks.
– Pass the road test.
– Hold a valid DOT Health Card or the ability to obtain one.
– Ability to lift and transport product cases/freight using tools such as a two-wheeler and lift gate; products typically range from 10-35 pounds, and up to 60-90 pounds at times.

Preferred Qualifications:
– Over one year of experience in the foodservice distribution industry.
– Familiarity with onboard computer and electronic logging systems (e.g., PeopleNet).
– Experience with handheld point of delivery scanning systems (e.g., POD).
