Position Purpose:
As a food and food service delivery driver, you will play a pivotal role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers are responsible not only for ensuring that customers receive their products promptly and in excellent condition but also for representing our company and fostering lasting relationships with our clients. The driver will operate a tractor trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate routes, adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations while delivering and unloading food and food-related products in a safe and timely manner.
Primary Responsibilities:
– Communicate and interact professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, providing accurate and timely responses to inquiries.
– Collaborate effectively as a team member within the department and organization, completing any assigned duties to best serve the company.
– Conduct all mandated safety checks (e.g., pre/post trip inspections) of the tractor/truck and trailer in compliance with DOT regulations, ensuring they meet company safety standards and addressing any necessary actions.
– Report all safety issues and required repairs.
– Follow all DOT regulations and adhere to the company’s safe driving guidelines and policies.
– Promptly report safety hazards and inspect trailers to ensure freight is properly loaded and secured.
– Execute item count checks and verify customer invoices for loaded products.
– Accurately complete all required paperwork related to freight in a clear and legible manner.
– Maneuver the tractor to the loading dock and secure the preloaded trailer as needed.
– Drive and deliver customer orders according to the established route delivery schedule.
– Unload products from the trailer and transport items to designated storage areas at customer locations.
– Perform damage control checks on items, scan, and notify supervisors regarding any orders to be removed as per company policy.
– Confirm delivery of items with customers and obtain the necessary signatures.
– Collect payments (cash or checks) when required, and secure customer returns on the trailer.
– Ensure that the tractor, trailer, and freight are securely locked at all times.
– Handle the unloading of damaged goods and customer returns, completing requisite paperwork. Additionally, unload all equipment and materials, and remove trash from trailers as necessary.
– Maintain a daily record of service hours, logging this information in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company regulations.
– Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor and loading dock area, keeping trailers clean and organized as required.
– At the end of the shift, secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
– Execute other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
– A minimum of 12 months of commercial driving experience.
– High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
– Valid CDL A license.
– Compliance with all state licensing and certification requirements, where applicable.
– Candidates must be at least 21 years of age.
– A clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years.
– Ability to pass a post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
– Successful completion of a road test.
– Possession of a valid DOT Health Card or the ability to secure a new one.
– Capability to hand-lift and utilize a two-wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move and stack product cases/freight of varying sizes and weights throughout the shift, with products typically ranging from 10-35 pounds and up to 60-90 pounds, depending on the location.
