Position Details:

Position Purpose:
Delivery drivers in the food and food service sector play a crucial role in the nation’s food supply chain. Our drivers ensure that customer products reach their destinations safely and on time while serving as the face of our company, fostering enduring relationships with our clients. As a Driver within the Shuttle Formula team, your primary responsibility will be to transport empty trailers to warehouse locations, then deliver full trailers to designated domicile or shuttle yard locations. This role entails driving tandem trailers or straight trucks on both intrastate and interstate routes, ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and delivering products safely and efficiently. You will also engage with customers, vendors, and colleagues in a professional manner, addressing inquiries accurately and promptly. Collaboration as a team member both within your department and across the organization is essential to effectively meet the company’s needs.

Key Responsibilities:
– Conduct all mandatory safety checks, including pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the tractor, truck, and trailer in accordance with DOT regulations and company safety standards, taking necessary actions when deficiencies are identified.
– Report any safety issues or required repairs promptly.
– Adhere to DOT regulations as well as company safe driving guidelines and policies, reporting safety hazards immediately.
– Inspect trailers to ensure freight is properly loaded and secured.
– Ensure all required route documentation accompanies the trailer load upon dispatch.
– Drive and deliver trailers following an established route schedule.
– Execute hook/unhook procedures following safety guidelines.
– Park and store tractor trailers in designated locations.
– Ensure that all equipment and freight are secured and locked properly.
– Collect and safely store damaged goods and customer returns in the empty trailer for return to the check-in area, completing necessary paperwork.
– Unload all materials and remove waste from trailers as necessary.
– Complete daily logs accurately, recording hours of service in compliance with Federal DOT, state, and company regulations.
– Maintain general cleanliness and organization of the tractor, loading dock area, and trailers as required.
– Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
– High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
– Valid CDL A with Doubles Endorsement.
– Minimum age of 21.
– Compliance with all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable.
– Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years.
– Availability for the required third shift schedule, Sunday to Thursday nights (schedules may vary).
– Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test.
– Passing score on a road test.
– Valid current DOT Health Card or the ability to obtain a new one.
– Capability to lift and manipulate product cases/freight weighing between 60 to 90 pounds, utilizing a two-wheeler, lift gate, or other equipment as needed throughout the shift.

Preferred Qualifications:
– Six months of commercial driving experience.
– Background in the foodservice distribution industry.
– Familiarity with onboard computer and electronic logging systems (e.g., PeopleNet).
– Experience with handheld point of delivery scanning systems (e.g., POD).
