The position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $65,000 to $75,000, with work schedules requiring dispatch between 5 PM and 7 PM.

As a critical component of the nation’s food supply chain, our Food and Food Service Delivery Drivers ensure that products reach customers safely and punctually, while also being ambassadors for our brand and cultivating strong customer relationships.
In the role of Shuttle Driver, you will be instrumental in our operations by transporting empty trailers to Operating Company warehouse locations and returning full trailers to designated domicile/shuttle yard locations. This position involves driving tandem trailers, tractors, and/or straight trucks on both intrastate and interstate routes, ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. You will be responsible for professional communication with customers, vendors, and coworkers, fostering a collaborative team environment while fulfilling all assigned duties to best serve the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct all required safety inspections (pre/post trip) of tractors/trucks and trailers in accordance with DOT regulations, ensuring compliance with company safety standards.
- Report safety concerns and necessary repairs immediately.
- Adhere to DOT regulations and company safe driving policies, promptly reporting any road hazards encountered.
- Inspect trailers to confirm proper loading and securement of freight.
- Ensure all requisite route paperwork is present with the tractor trailer load upon dispatch.
- Drive and deliver trailers according to a predetermined schedule.
- Perform hook/unhook procedures strictly following safety guidelines.
- Park and store tractors and trailers in designated areas securely.
- Safeguard all equipment and freight, ensuring they are properly locked and secured.
- Manage the collection and secure transport of damaged goods and customer returns back to the base facility, completing all required documentation.
- Unload materials and dispose of waste from trailers as necessary.
- Maintain accurate daily service hour records in compliance with Federal DOT, state, and company regulations.
- Perform general housekeeping duties within the tractor, loading dock, and trailers as required.
- Execute additional related tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 6 months commercial driving experience.
- A high school diploma, GED, or state-approved equivalent.
- Internal candidates must be in good standing.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- A valid CDL A with Doubles Endorsement.
- Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
- Compliance with all state licensing and certification requirements (where applicable).
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years.
- Ability to work a required 3rd shift schedule, typically Sunday through Thursday nights (schedules may vary).
- Successful completion of a post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
- Passing a road test.
- A valid current DOT Health Card or the ability to obtain a new one.
- Physical capability to hand-lift and utilize equipment such as two-wheelers and liftgates to move and stack product cases that may weigh between 10-90 pounds, depending on location.
Preferred Qualifications:
- An additional 6 months of commercial driving experience.
- Experience in the foodservice distribution industry.
- Familiarity with onboard computer and electronic logging systems (e.g., PeopleNet).
- Experience with handheld point of delivery scanning systems (e.g., POD).
