Our Beavercreek site has been a cornerstone of the community for over 70 years, specializing in the manufacturing of gas turbine tubes, ducts, and manifolds. The facility is equipped with complex machining, fabrication, and investment casting capabilities, along with on-site product engineering, new product development, and testing. We also handle the repair and overhaul of tubes, ducts, and manifolds, and take pride in having achieved the highest safety rating awarded by OSHA.

In this role, you will adhere to all GE policies and GE Aviation procedures as outlined in the site handbook and related documents. You will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC mills and/or lathes, following detailed written instructions (such as MOS, routers, and engineering drawings) with precision. The materials you will work with include castings, forgings, screw machine blanks, turret lathe blanks, sawed blanks, and bar stock. Additionally, you will execute set-ups involving the adjustment of chuck jaws, tool holders, fixtures, boring bars, drills, reamers, and the calibration of tools, and you may be required to write your own programs and operate multiple machines.

You will need to achieve CVP operator status within the first 60 days of employment and adhere to established Lean Manufacturing principles, including one-piece flow, standard work, 6S, set-up reduction, and wet process lines. Maintaining high housekeeping standards is essential to ensure safe and efficient work areas; this includes cleaning chips around the machine, keeping coolant and fluids off the shop floor, and organizing the work area to meet established standards.

The ideal candidate will possess set-up experience and the ability to load offsets and perform program edits, familiarity with Optical Comparators, and have demonstrated experience or completion of coursework in geometric tolerancing. You should be adept at reading and interpreting blueprints and able to run both CNC and manual equipment concurrently as needed in a cell. Effective communication and teamwork skills within a collaborative environment are essential, along with the ability to accurately complete production-related paperwork. You must be able to read and understand routers and MOS (Manufacturing Operation Sheets), as well as the CVP (Characteristic Verification Plan) Training manual, and successfully complete the CVP Training Program.

Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma or GED, a completed Certified Program in Machining, or a minimum of one year of machining experience with CNC lathes and/or mills or completion of a Machining Apprentice Program.

Preferred qualifications include experience with Optical Comparators, the ability to verify and inspect your own work utilizing micrometers, plug gauges, height gauges, and surface plates for layout of machined parts, and a track record of producing error-free products. You should be comfortable working under general direction with minimal supervision while receiving guidance in planning and scheduling work.

Compensation for this position ranges from $21.84 to $27.30 per hour, based on experience, with an additional $1.50 premium for third-shift work. You should be prepared to work overtime (50-60 hours per week) as needed. Your safety is a top priority; we provide most protective gear, including hearing protection when necessary.
