Role Overview:
In this position, you will adhere to all GE policies and Aviation procedures as outlined in the site handbook and other relevant documentation. Key responsibilities include:

  • Setting up and operating CNC mills and/or lathes.
  • Accurately interpreting and following written instructions, including manufacturing operation sheets (MOS), routers, and engineering drawings.
  • Working with various materials, including castings, forgings, and bar stock.
  • Conducting machine set-ups, which may involve changing chuck jaws, tool holders, fixtures, and setting tools.
  • Editing CNC programs and making offsets to ensure the production of acceptable parts; writing programs and operating multiple machines may also be required.
  • Achieving CVP operator status within the first 60 days of employment.
  • Implementing Lean Manufacturing principles, such as one-piece flow, standard work, and set-up reduction.
  • Maintaining high housekeeping standards to ensure a safe and efficient work environment, including managing chips and coolant on the shop floor and organizing work areas per established practices.

The Ideal Candidate:
You should possess:

  • Set-up experience with the ability to load offsets and perform program edits.
  • Experience in using an Optical Comparator.
  • A solid understanding of geometric tolerancing, verified through demonstrated experience or coursework.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • The capability to operate both CNC and manual equipment concurrently as needed.
  • Team-oriented skills, enabling effective collaboration within a cellular manufacturing environment.
  • A commitment to accurately completing production paperwork.
  • The ability to read and understand routers and MOS documents.
  • Familiarity with the CVP (Characteristic Verification Plan) Training manual, along with successful completion of the CVP Training Program.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a certified program in Machining, or a minimum of one year of machining experience with CNC lathes and/or mills, or completion of a Machining Apprentice Program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience utilizing an Optical Comparator.
  • Competence in verifying and inspecting your own work, gained through experience with measuring instruments such as micrometers, plug gauges, and height gauges.
  • A track record of producing error-free products, working under general direction with minimal supervision while receiving guidance for planning and scheduling work.

Additional Information:
Compensation ranges from $21.84 to $27.30 per hour, commensurate with experience, with an additional $1.50 premium for third shift work. You may be required to work overtime (50-60 hours per week) as needed.
