Job description:
Sets up, operates, and inspects multiple conversational and CNC turning centers to perform various machining functions, including but not limited to turning, tapping, reaming, boring, and deburring of both alloy and non-alloy workpieces.

Responsibilities:
- Setup and operate multiple machines and machining centers.
- Read, interpret, and follow complex blueprints, operational sheets, procedures, sketches, and related technical documentation to identify tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining method sequences.
- Mount, align, position, and secure tools, attachments, and workpieces on machines.
- Enter commands to input, output, or retrieve preprogrammed instructions from the database.
- Calculate, set, and operate machine controls to position spindles in relation to workpieces, regulating factors such as cutting depth, speed, feed rate, and coolant flow.
- Input all SPC and measurement-related information as defined by the engineering community to establish and maintain process controls.
- Operate machinery while monitoring displays for any malfunctions or deviations in machining operations.
- Monitor machining processes to promptly stop and change cutting tools or adjust setups, ensuring compliance with required machining sequences and part measurements as per blueprint specifications.
- Adjust machine controls or manually intervene to rectify malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.
- Manually operate machines to perform non-automated functions when necessary.
- Utilize a range of precision inspection equipment to verify feature conformity through appropriate inspection methodologies.
- Maintain detailed logs and records, discussing control media errors with supervisory and engineering/programming personnel to resolve issues.
- Perform daily machine maintenance and housekeeping tasks, ensuring proper oil and coolant levels, monitoring coolant concentration, and maintaining cleanliness of machines, tool parts, and the surrounding work area.
- Operate pendant cranes and properly rig parts weighing between 5-1000 lbs.
- Utilize motorized and manual pallet jacks and box dollies as needed.
- Assist fellow operators with proper operational procedures and support training efforts for other operators in running machines and performing job-related tasks.
- Adhere to all safety rules and regulations as designated by the local Environmental Health and Safety department, including the mandatory use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the setup and operation of CNC Turning or Mill/Turn Centers; completion of an accredited training program will also be considered.
- High school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Ability to demonstrate competency in the required skills on a test piece, if necessary.
- Proficient in demonstrating CNC control capabilities, including editing speeds, feeds, tool offsets, and fixture offsets.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, procedures, and work instructions.
- Competency in using various measuring instruments, including dial bore gauges, indicator snap gauges, verniers, and .0001 micrometers.
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills.
- Strong process skills to maintain accurate documentation.
- Must possess necessary personal tools.
The starting rate for this position in Ohio (US-OH) is $39.83 per hour, with a comprehensive compensation package that may also include a range of medical, retirement, and other benefits.
