Job description:
The Michigan State University College of Nursing invites applications for the position of College Alumni Coordinator. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the alumni initiatives of the College, fostering enduring relationships between alumni and their alma mater while celebrating the diversity inherent within our alumni community and student body from all backgrounds. The role will involve enhancing alumni participation and engagement through various activities and events, keeping alumni informed about college happenings, involving them in college boards, activities, and programs, and promoting inclusive connections by offering services that maintain their networks within the College and with fellow alumni.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
– Planning and coordinating alumni activities and events, as well as other college events as assigned.
– Serving as the primary liaison and executive secretary to the College of Nursing Alumni Board, facilitating formal communications between the College and the Alumni Board.
– Organizing events such as groundbreakings, dedications, campaign meetings, endowed chair/professorship investitures, and scholarship events with an emphasis on diversity, representation, inclusive excellence, and equity.
– Collaborating with the Alumni Board and College leadership to ensure alumni award nominations are submitted and award recipients are selected for the College’s Student & Alumni Awards Banquet, with a focus on equity and inclusion in the selection process.
– Engaging with College of Nursing alumni through various channels, including the alumni website, The Frontline Newsletter, alumni magazine, and surveys.
– Leveraging MSU central advancement and marketing resources while participating in national marketing and communications professional groups to develop and implement a creative strategic plan grounded in the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
All team members within the College of Nursing are expected to demonstrate leadership that nurtures inclusion, belonging, and servant leadership, which involves:
– Committing to long-term efforts that enhance inclusive practices in health equity across the College.
– Deliberately fostering an environment that encourages belonging, inclusivity in learning, work, and clinical settings to empower everyone to realize their full potential.

Minimum Requirements include a four-year college degree in Business, Communication Arts, Marketing, or a related field; one to three years of progressively responsible experience in higher education fundraising, event coordination, or public speaking; or equivalent education and experience.
Additional Qualifications are as follows:
– Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
– Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
– Possession of a valid driver’s license.
– Availability to work evenings and weekends, as well as travel for alumni programs and events.
Desired Qualifications include:
– Experience in website content management.
– Knowledge of volunteer management and organizational development.
– Recent involvement in strategic planning and operations.
– Proficiency in data entry, manipulation, and database management systems.
– Strong project management skills, journalistic writing abilities, and knowledge of internet communication.
– Experience in building and maintaining professional relationships.
– Familiarity with annual giving solicitation and planning techniques.
– Flexibility to undertake additional duties as assigned.
– An understanding of the significance of nurturing lifelong relationships between the College and its alumni and friends.
