In this role, the Communication and Engagement Lead is essential in cultivating a strong sense of connection, commitment, and empowerment within the Enterprise Technology (ET) team. This position encompasses the development and execution of strategic internal communication plans, analyzing employee feedback (such as voice surveys), supporting leadership on strategic initiatives, and designing programs aimed at improving team dynamics and psychological safety.
The Communication and Engagement Lead also oversees the planning and execution of key Enterprise Technology events, which include Global Town Halls and business reviews. This highly collaborative role demands exceptional communication, project management, and analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Internal Communications Strategy & Execution: Formulate and implement a comprehensive internal communication strategy to ensure a clear and consistent flow of information across the ET team. This includes crafting engaging content for diverse channels (e.g., email newsletters, intranet, presentations, videos) and tailoring communication styles for different audiences.
- Employee Engagement & Feedback: Analyze data from employee voice surveys, facilitate feedback sessions, and employ additional mechanisms to identify trends, gauge employee sentiment, and inform communication strategies aimed at enhancing engagement and morale.
- Team Dynamics & Psychological Safety: Design and execute programs that enhance team dynamics, foster psychological safety, and promote a culture of inclusivity and collaboration within ET. Initiatives may involve workshops, training sessions, and team-building activities.
- Event Planning & Management: Plan, organize, and execute a variety of ET events, including Global Town Halls, business reviews, and team meetings. Responsibilities include managing logistics, coordinating speakers, creating agendas, and ensuring effective communication throughout the event lifecycle.
- Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders within the ET organization, including leadership, managers, and employees, to understand their needs and promote alignment on communication and engagement initiatives.
- Measurement & Reporting: Monitor key metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of communication and engagement initiatives and provide progress reports to leadership. This may involve measuring employee satisfaction and engagement levels, as well as the impact of specific programs.
- Content Creation: Develop high-quality, engaging content for internal communications, including writing, editing, and designing materials across various platforms.
- Collaboration & Teamwork: Collaborate closely with colleagues within the communication and engagement team, as well as with cross-functional teams, to ensure seamless initiative execution.
- Budget Management: Responsible for managing a budget allocated for communication and engagement activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or a combination of relevant education and professional experience.
- Over 5 years of experience in large IT organizations or enterprise communications teams.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience leading and mentoring teams of 5 or more members, demonstrating strong leadership abilities, including:
- Capacity to lead and nurture team members.
- Aptitude for influencing diverse individuals towards achieving results collaboratively.
- Proficiency in applying agile principles and managing change.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with confidence in presenting to various leadership levels.
- Outstanding leadership, consulting, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent project management and planning capabilities to ensure the timely and high-quality completion of strategic projects.
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
- Capability to structure and visualize complex problems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree.
- More than 5 years of experience leading enterprise communications teams.
- A foundational understanding of Ford’s global ET organization, technical domains, and job families.
