Position Summary

  • Cook: Responsible for preparing and serving food, including texture-modified and therapeutic diets, in accordance with facility menus and all relevant federal, state, and local regulations. Ensures quality dining services are delivered consistently as directed by the Dining Services Director. Assists in proper receiving, storage, preparation, serving, sanitation, and cleaning procedures. In the absence of the Dining Services Director, may provide support to the Dietary Aide and oversee other employees with approval.
  • Safety: Adheres to safety protocols by utilizing protective gear and responsibly mixing and using cleaning solutions. Timely reporting of equipment or cleaning product needs to supervision is essential, along with compliance with safety and quality guidelines, infection control policies, and proper sanitation practices.
  • Punctuality: Maintains regular attendance and punctuality, completing assigned tasks according to schedule. Responds promptly to paging systems.
  • Customer Experience: Positively represents HCSG through courteous and cooperative interactions with supervisors, colleagues, and client staff.
  • Resident Experience: Engages in positive and tactful interactions with residents, staff, and facility guests.

Qualifications

  • Exhibits a positive attitude and the ability to follow both oral and written instructions while performing routine and repetitive tasks consistently.
  • After completing necessary training, demonstrates leadership skills by carrying out responsibilities autonomously and safely.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, with experience in food preparation being advantageous. Completion of an approved sanitation and safety course may be required.
  • Current ServSafe or Food Handler certification is required according to State/County law.
  • Reliable attendance is essential, and adherence to COVID-19 vaccination policies required by State, Local, and/or Customers is mandatory.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to lift/carry and push/pull up to 50 pounds, as well as standing, sitting, bending, and walking for extended periods.
  • Must be able to continuously perform routine tasks and work in proximity to food and cleaning products.
  • Residency within the service area is required.
