Position Summary
- Cook: Responsible for preparing and serving food, including modified and therapeutic diets in accordance with facility menus and applicable regulations. Assists in ensuring proper processes are followed for receiving, storage, preparation, serving, sanitation, and cleaning. In the absence of the Dining Services Director, may support Dietary Aides and provide direction to other staff as needed.
- Safety: Adhere to safety protocols by utilizing protective gear and safely mixing and using cleaning solutions. Report equipment or cleaning product issues to a supervisor promptly. Ensure compliance with established safety and quality standards, following infection control and universal precautions diligently.
- Punctuality: Demonstrate consistent attendance and punctuality, completing assigned tasks on schedule and responding promptly to paging requests.
- Customer Experience: Represent HCSG positively by adhering to instructions and maintaining a courteous demeanor with supervisors, co-workers, and client staff.
- Resident Experience: Engage in positive and respectful interactions with residents, staff, and facility guests.
Qualifications
- Display a positive attitude with the ability to follow both oral and written instructions and perform daily repetitive tasks.
- After completing requisite training, demonstrate leadership skills to perform duties autonomously while ensuring safety for oneself and others.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred; prior experience in food preparation is advantageous and an approved sanitation and safety course may be required.
- Current ServSafe or Food Handler certification is required based on state or county regulations.
- Must maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies, as mandated by state, local, and customer requirements.
- Physical capabilities include lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing or pulling the same weight, and the ability to stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods.
- Must be able to work around food and cleaning products.
- Residency within the service area is required.
