Position Summary
- Cook: Responsible for food preparation and service, including specialized diets as per facility menus and in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, ensuring high-quality dining services as directed by the Dining Services Director. This role includes assisting with receiving, storage, preparation, sanitation, and cleaning processes. In the absence of the Dining Services Director, you will support the Dietary Aide and direct other staff with approval.
- Safety: Employ appropriate protective gear in all tasks, ensure the safe mixing and use of cleaning solutions, and report equipment or product needs promptly. Adhere to safety and quality standards, enforcing universal infection control measures to maintain hygiene.
- Punctuality: Consistent attendance and timely completion of tasks are crucial, as is responsiveness to the paging system.
- Customer Experience: Represent HCSG positively by adhering to instructions and demonstrating courtesy and cooperation with supervisors and colleagues.
- Resident Experience: Engage in positive, respectful interactions with residents, staff, and guests.
Qualifications
- Exhibit a positive attitude while effectively following both oral and written instructions, performing routine tasks daily.
- After training, utilize leadership skills to independently fulfill responsibilities without inflicting harm to yourself or others.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, with experience in food preparation highly regarded. Completing an approved sanitation and safety course may be required.
- Current ServSafe or Food Handler certification is mandatory, in accordance with state and county regulations.
- Reliability in attendance and punctuality is essential.
- Must comply with COVID-19 vaccination policies as mandated by state, local, or customer requirements.
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, along with pushing/pulling the same weight; ability to stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods is necessary.
- Must persistently perform routine, repetitive tasks and work in proximity to food and cleaning products.
- Residency in the service area is a requirement.
