Position Summary

  • Cook: Responsible for preparing and serving food, including texture-modified and therapeutic diets, in accordance with facility menus and relevant federal, state, and local standards and regulations. This role includes ensuring quality dining services as directed by the Dining Services Director and assisting in proper receiving, storage, preparation, sanitation, and cleaning procedures. In the Dining Services Director’s absence, supervisory responsibilities for Dietary Aides and other employees may be necessary.
  • Safety: Utilize protective equipment for all relevant tasks. Ensure the safe and proper use of cleaning solutions while adhering to safety protocols, reporting equipment or supply malfunctions promptly. Maintain established standards of safety and quality, following infection control and universal precautions diligently.
  • Punctuality: Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality, completing assigned tasks per the schedule, and responding promptly to paging systems.
  • Customer Experience: Represent HCSG positively by following instructions and demonstrating courtesy and cooperation with supervisors, co-workers, and client staff.
  • Resident Experience: Engage in positive, pleasant, and tactful interactions with residents, staff, and facility guests.

Qualifications

  • Exhibit a positive attitude with the ability to follow oral and written instructions while performing routine tasks consistently.
  • Upon completion of training, apply leadership skills to fulfill responsibilities independently and safely.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with experience in food preparation. Completion of an approved sanitation and safety course may be required.
  • Current ServSafe or Food Handler certification is mandatory based on State/County regulations.
  • Must demonstrate consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Compliance with COVID-19 Vaccination Policies as mandated by State, Local, and Customer requirements is essential.
  • Must be capable of lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds, and standing, sitting, bending, and walking for extended periods.
  • Must be able to perform continuous routine tasks around food and cleaning products.
  • Must reside within the service area.
