Job Overview
The Cook employs their expertise in food production to ensure the timely and safe preparation and service of meals in accordance with established recipes. This role requires compliance with all food safety and sanitation protocols while maintaining an orderly kitchen. In the absence of the Dining Services Coordinator, the Cook is responsible for effectively managing all aspects of food production.
Responsibilities

- Uphold high standards for food taste and quality at all times.
- Prepare and serve meals promptly, adhering to standardized recipes and menus.
- Utilize production sheets to accurately record food production quantities and maintain proper cooking, holding, and cooling temperatures.
- Prepare dietary modifications as required.
- Follow Sunrise systems for order taking and meal delivery to ensure accuracy.
- Stock, rotate, date, and store products in accordance with food safety standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, storage, and work areas.
- Complete assigned cleaning duties and ensure the accuracy of daily and weekly cleaning logs.
- Maintain accurate equipment logs and promptly report any issues.
- Ensure that all cooking equipment is safe and in working order, reporting any problems immediately.
- Comply with OSHA/British Columbia Workers Compensation Act and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, including adherence to safety protocols and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Perform additional Dining Services duties as directed by community leadership, which may include:
- Dishwashing tasks to properly sanitize all dining ware and cookware.
- Operating dish machine(s) according to manufacturer instructions.
- Performing light janitorial duties, such as sanitizing production areas and managing waste.
- Cleaning assigned kitchen equipment, including stoves, ovens, fryers, and more.
- Assisting with service in dining areas as necessary.

- Maintain compliance in all required training and ensure adherence to state/provincial regulations applicable to your role.
Qualifications
- A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in food preparation within a restaurant, hotel, or similar setting.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Maintain required certifications and complete ongoing training as mandated by Sunrise and applicable regulations, including:
- CPR and First Aid Certificates.
- ServSafe® Manager Certificate.
- Local Health Department Food Handler Card.
- Culinary apprenticeship or training is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
- Demonstrated sound judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
