Job Overview
The Cook leverages their expertise in food production to guarantee the timely and safe preparation and service of meals in accordance with established recipes, while upholding all food safety and sanitation guidelines. This role includes managing all food production responsibilities in the absence of the Dining Services Coordinator.

Responsibilities:

  • Uphold high standards for food taste and quality at all times.
  • Prepare and serve meals promptly, adhering to established standardized recipes and menus.
  • Utilize production sheets to accurately document food production quantities as well as cooking, holding, and cooling temperatures.
  • Prepare necessary dietary modifications as ordered.
  • Follow Sunrise systems for order taking and meal delivery to ensure accuracy.
  • Stock, rotate, date, and store products in compliance with food safety standards and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, storage, and work areas.
  • Complete assigned cleaning tasks and ensure the accuracy of daily and weekly cleaning logs.
  • Maintain equipment logs and promptly report any issues.
  • Keep all cooking equipment in safe and functional order, reporting concerns as needed.
  • Adhere to OSHA requirements and Risk Management policies, following all safety rules and procedures, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Lockout Tagout procedures.
  • Carry out additional Dining Services duties as assigned by community leadership, including but not limited to:
    • Performing dishwashing tasks to ensure all dishes, silverware, glassware, utensils, and cookware are properly cleaned and sanitized.
    • Operating dish machines according to manufacturer instructions.
    • Performing light janitorial duties, including sweeping work areas, sanitizing production areas, and emptying trash.
    • Cleaning designated kitchen equipment, including stoves, ovens, fryers, microwaves, mixers, slicers, refrigerators, freezers, worktables, prep sinks, ice makers, coffee machines, hoods, and ventilation systems.
    • Assisting with dining area service as needed.

  • Maintain compliance with required training and all training mandated by state/provincial or other regulatory authorities relevant to this role, ensuring Sunrise standards are consistently met.

Qualifications:

  • One (1) year of relevant experience in food preparation within a restaurant, hotel, or similar environment.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Valid ServSafe® certification is required.
  • Culinary apprenticeship or training is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
