About the Role:
PMC Med Staff is in search of a committed and empathetic CT Technologist to join a dynamic hospital environment. You will play a vital role in a collaborative healthcare team, delivering outstanding care to patients while ensuring their physical, emotional, and psychological well-being. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in conjunction with other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal health outcomes. Responsibilities:

  • Produce high-quality radiographic images by utilizing appropriate positioning and technical factors; operate CT scanners, power injectors, and post-processing equipment; adjust protocols as needed, and critique completed procedures for diagnostic quality.
  • Perform general radiography exams as required.
  • Maintain a repeat rate at or below the national standard.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with terminology and procedures across all areas of Diagnostic Imaging, as well as a working knowledge of front desk and file room operations.
  • Communicate any delays to patients, explaining procedures to enhance their comfort; gather comprehensive patient history and prepare patients for examinations.
  • Select appropriate equipment based on procedure protocols, specifications, and standards.
  • Evaluate the technical quality of images, recording, archiving, retrieving, compiling, and calculating data.
  • Assist the radiologist during invasive procedures, including biopsies and abscess drainages, when needed.
  • Position patients according to the anatomical area being examined, providing accurate measurements and educating patients by clearly explaining procedures while adhering to age-specific guidelines.
  • Acquire complete patient histories and relay pertinent information to the radiologist; consult with the radiologist regarding patient care and protocols as required.
  • Uphold patient and employee confidentiality in accordance with client privacy policies and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Demonstrate safe and effective utilization of all relevant equipment, performing calibration and preventive maintenance as necessary.
  • Report unusual events or variations in clinical activities to Diagnostic Imaging Management and suggest areas for improvement.
  • Engage in educational and staff meetings; attend departmental meetings and participate in the education of students or new employees as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned and ensure routine cleaning of work areas and equipment; maintain adequate supplies.
  • Safely transport and transfer patients according to established policies, employing appropriate restraints and safety measures.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement activities or committees.

Essential Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in operating computers, associated peripherals, and the Microsoft Windows operating system.
  • Ability to independently and accurately perform computed tomography imaging procedures.
  • Competency in quickly and accurately reading to obtain critical clinical information.
  • Experience operating imaging equipment in the designated area of hire.
  • Capability to establish and maintain sterile venous access via intravenous catheter.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as an ARRT registered CT Technologist.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, walk, and stand for extended periods.
  • Proficiency in forward reaching, bending, pulling, twisting, lifting, and turning related to patient transport and equipment handling.
  • Skill in pushing wheelchairs or stretchers throughout the hospital.

Education:

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration in Radiography.
  • Documentation of at least 20 hours of training and experience in operating CT equipment, radiation physics, and radiation protection per State of Michigan guidelines for CT Operators.
  • Completion of a two-year allied health degree.
