Job description:

Seeking custodians for a logistics facility located in Sterling Heights, MI (14/Mound). This janitorial role will entail extensive walking throughout the day.

Overview:

  • Compensation: $15.50 per hour
  • Steel-toe or composite footwear is required

Shifts:

  • Scheduled work is available as follows:
    • Four 10-hour shifts
    • Sunday to Wednesday, from 4:00 AM to 2:30 PM
    • Sunday to Wednesday, from 6:00 PM to 4:30 AM
    • Wednesday to Saturday, from 4:00 AM to 2:30 PM

Essential Janitorial Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collect and dispose of trash and debris across the job site, transporting waste to dumpsters
  • Sweep and maintain cleanliness in work areas throughout the project
  • Differentiate between waste/scrap and stored materials
  • Organize work effectively, completing areas systematically
  • Collaborate closely with other trades in a fast-paced environment
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as required
  • This position is physically demanding, involving extensive walking (miles per day), heavy lifting (including trash disposal), and cleaning outdoor areas such as the yard, guard shack, and designated smoking areas.

Although janitorial work comprises a significant portion of our services, candidates should be prepared to undertake a range of additional tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Cardboard removal and baling
  • Moving and stacking pallets
  • Floor cleaning
  • Forklift operation
  • Openness to various tasks is essential

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a janitorial, custodial, cleaning, or housekeeping role is preferred
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull items exceeding 50 lbs.
  • Must adhere to basic safety procedures and precautions due to potential physical hazards and exposure to hazardous chemicals
  • Reliable transportation is required
