Job description:
The Data Scientist, Healthcare Analytics plays a crucial role in supporting the Senior Data Scientist and various business analysts by deeply understanding the data science needs of business users. This position involves working with a diverse range of data sources—both internal and external, encompassing structured and unstructured formats—to develop analytical models that leverage advanced machine-learning techniques.
Collaboration with the IT team is essential to ensure appropriate data sourcing for model development. The Data Scientist will actively participate in the creation of project deliverables, particularly focusing on documentation related to data science outputs. As a proactive team player, this role requires engagement with data engineers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to tackle analytical challenges and devise innovative solutions to business problems.
Candidates should possess expertise in extracting, transforming, and analyzing datasets using a variety of analytical tools and statistical methodologies. The ability to effectively communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences is paramount. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and adaptability in response to evolving business needs and the dynamic data landscape.
Education/Experience Required:
- A bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Operations Research, Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional work experience.
- At least 2 years of quantitative data analysis experience within the US healthcare industry, focusing on problem-solving.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in predictive analytics, forecasting, and optimization using tools such as Python, R, or SAS.
- Over 1 year of experience working with cloud-based Big Data environments for data gathering, cleansing, preparation, and modeling is preferred.
- Advanced SQL skills with experience in RDBMS such as Oracle, SQL Server, etc.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI, and experience with data visualization techniques in Rshiny, GGPlot, Qlik, Alteryx, Flask, or D3 that effectively communicate data insights and foster engagement with analytic outputs.
- Expertise in machine learning, data analytics, pattern recognition, and predictive modeling.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with an emphasis on effective storytelling.
