Position Overview:

General Summary:
The Database Manager/Architect plays a critical role in designing, administering, developing, and expanding a multi-source, multi-hospital, multi-schedule data warehouse. This data warehouse supports business intelligence, advanced analytics, clinical research, and routine health system quality and safety reporting. This position is essential within our innovative environment, allowing team members to directly observe how their contributions enhance patient care.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Data Warehouse Management:
- Oversee ETL processes, including data manipulation, cleaning, and loading from internal and external sources. Ensure data integrity across multiple databases through thorough testing and maintenance.
- Maintain database server integrity and security.
- Develop new processes to optimize existing data within the warehouse and implement new database technologies as needed. Enhance the efficiency of existing database systems using keys and indexes.
- Audit, modify, and update data using various methods including SAS, SQL commands, and bulk imports.
- Establish and enforce database and user standards and procedures.
- Schedule database projects, transaction log backups, and notifications.
- Collaborate with TIS, home office, and external organizations to facilitate efficient and accurate data management.
- Collaboration on Database Projects:
- Engage in collaborative discussions with team members to ascertain user requirements during meetings and project discussions.
- Review technical designs, reports, documentation, and other outputs produced by staff.
- Support team members in the development and creation of SQL and web-based databases and systems.
- Work closely with physicians and hospital staff to identify and fulfill their information needs.
Required Education, Experience, and Certification/Licensure:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field is required.
- Certification in Microsoft SQL Server is preferred.
- A minimum of three years of experience in a database environment (preferably SQL Server) with substantial responsibilities is required.
- Proficiency in SAS, Base SAS, SAS macros, INTRNET, ACCESS, and CONNECT is strongly preferred, along with familiarity with Business Objects, Desktop Intelligence, Web Intelligence, and HL7.
- Experience in the healthcare industry is preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of current data structures, database theory, and database administration concepts.
- Proficient in MSSQL Server 2018 or higher, Oracle or similar systems, including stored procedures, data importing/exporting, and backup/restore operations.
- Knowledge of FTP and ODBC connectivity is necessary.
- Familiarity with data retrieval, security, and backup practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with efficiency.
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
