Position Details:

– Schedule: Monday to Friday, with shift lengths averaging between 10 to 12 hours

Position Purpose:
Food and food service delivery drivers play a vital role in the nation’s food supply chain. Beyond ensuring that products arrive at their destination on time and in prime condition, our delivery drivers represent our company and foster lasting relationships with our customers. Drivers are responsible for operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes for the purpose of delivering and/or unloading food and related products safely and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:
– Professionally communicate and interact with customers, vendors, and co-workers to ensure timely and accurate responses to inquiries.
– Collaborate with team members within the department and organization, fulfilling assigned duties to effectively serve the company.
– Conduct all necessary safety checks, including pre and post-trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer in compliance with DOT regulations, ensuring vehicles meet company safety standards.
– Report any safety issues or required repairs promptly.
– Adhere to all DOT regulations and the company’s safe driving guidelines and policies.
– Immediately report safety hazards and inspect trailers for properly loaded and secured freight.
– Perform item count checks and verify customer invoices of loaded products.
– Accurately complete all required paperwork related to freight in a legible manner.
– Position the tractor at the loading dock and attach preloaded trailers as necessary.
– Deliver customer orders according to a predetermined routing schedule.
– Unload products from the trailer and transport them to designated storage areas at customer sites.
– Conduct damage control checks on items, scanning and notifying supervisors regarding order removals per company policy.
– Confirm delivery of items with the customer and obtain necessary signatures.
– Collect payment when required and secure trailer doors after loading customer returns.
– Ensure that the tractor, trailer, and freight are securely locked at all times.
– Manage the unloading of damaged goods and customer returns, completing necessary paperwork. Clear out equipment and waste from trailers as required.
– Maintain a daily record of hours of service as per Federal DOT, state, and company guidelines.
– Uphold general housekeeping practices in the tractor, loading dock area, and trailers.
– Secure all equipment and complete necessary paperwork at the end of each shift.
– Execute other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
– Minimum of 6 months of commercial driving experience
– High school diploma/GED or state-approved equivalent
– Valid CDL A license
– Compliance with all state licensing and certification requirements, where applicable
– Minimum age of 21 years
– Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) over the past 3 years
– Successfully pass a post-offer drug test and criminal background check
– Pass a road test
– Possess a valid current DOT Health Card or the ability to secure one
– Physically capable of hand-lifting and utilizing equipment like a two-wheeler, lift gate, and others to move and stack products of varying sizes and weights, generally ranging from 10 to 35 pounds and up to 60 to 90 pounds depending on the location.

Preferred Qualifications:
– 12 months of commercial driving experience
– Experience in foodservice distribution
– Familiarity with touch freight operations and intensive manual labor
– Proficiency in onboard computer and electronic logging systems (e.g., PeopleNet)
– Experience with hand-held point of delivery scanning systems (e.g., POD)
– Background in customer service-related work
