Job description:

This position functions as a departmental technician within the Cultural Enrichment and Education (CEE) Section. The incumbent will support the Equity and Inclusion Officer (EIO) and CEE staff in facilitating workshops, presentations, and creating educational materials for department members on a range of topics, including but not limited to cultural awareness, discrimination, bias, harassment, civil rights, and civil liberties. The role also serves as a liaison for departmental Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) in terms of event planning and procurement. Additionally, the technician will provide information from the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) Information & Tracking Network (MITN) to the designated agency representative to record Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits pertaining to CEE-related training. It is essential that this position operates in a bias-free manner.

Required Education and Experience

Experience

  • Departmental Technician 7: One year of experience in administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service.
  • Departmental Technician 8: One year of experience in administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service, or one year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service.
  • Departmental Technician E9: One year of experience supervising administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service, or one year of experience in administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service, or two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year equivalent to the intermediate level in state service.

Alternate Education and Experience

  • Departmental Technician 7: Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may substitute for the experience requirement.
  • Departmental Technician 8: A Bachelor’s degree may substitute for the experience requirement.
  • Departmental Technician E9: A Bachelor’s degree along with one year of job-related experience may substitute for the experience requirement.
