We are currently seeking a dedicated Development Manager to join our Fund Development team—an individual who is passionate about ensuring that all girls in western Ohio and southeastern Indiana have the opportunity to participate in Girl Scouts. The Development Manager plays a crucial role in our expanding fund development efforts, providing significant visibility to the community and implementing a comprehensive development strategy that generates diverse funding and donor support to further our mission. This role encompasses the design and execution of a robust development program for our local Cincinnati and Dayton regions, utilizing a wide array of fundraising strategies that include prospect identification, donor cultivation and stewardship, as well as planned and corporate giving.

The Development Manager position is an individual contributor role without supervisory responsibilities; however, it involves overseeing and managing a comprehensive development plan with specific, measurable funding goals for the designated regions. You will inherit an established donor portfolio and prospect pipeline, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to enhance our comprehensive and diversified funding strategy. This newly created position reflects our organizational investment aligned with our strategic priorities and represents a significant step in our overall fund development strategy. Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive development plan with specific, measurable goals for the assigned regions (Cincinnati and Dayton).
  • Execute a development strategy aimed at expanding our donor base in three key areas: individual donors, corporate sponsorships, and community organizations.
  • Manage a portfolio of major gift donors; create and implement strategies for donor cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and recognition for both current and prospective donors contributing at the $1,000+ level.
  • Collaborate with the fund development team to plan and execute signature annual fundraisers, including the Women of Distinction presents Girls Change the World Together.
  • Generate opportunities for prospective donors to engage with our organization, identifying initiatives within our council’s operational footprint that resonate with their personal giving objectives.
  • Employ effective funding strategies to foster continuous growth in monetary donations, sponsorships, event participation, and community support for various donor engagement initiatives.
  • Establish and lead regional planned giving initiatives.
  • Serve as a liaison to Girl Scout members and the Council’s Juliette Gordon Low Society; actively seek opportunities to engage and solicit donors for society membership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in fund development.
  • A minimum of three years of development or fundraising experience, with a proven track record of achieving targeted goals and facilitating growth efforts related to major gift donors, corporate sponsorships, and planned giving.
  • Experience in executing a donor-centered fundraising philosophy while promoting a strong culture of philanthropy.
  • A genuine interest in and understanding of issues affecting girls and women; familiarity with potential donors who are passionate about girls’ experiences and women’s empowerment is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in fundraising database software to track donors and generate reports; competent in Excel and comfortable with data analysis.
  • Ability to complete assignments independently, with professionalism and timeliness.

Supervisory Responsibility

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required, depending on job duties. This role is eligible for teleworking.

Travel
Travel is primarily within the Council’s jurisdiction (32 counties in western Ohio and southeastern Indiana) during business hours, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be necessary.

Compensation & Benefits
This full-time position offers a competitive annual salary range of $60,000 to $65,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package. The role also provides a hybrid working option to promote work-life balance (minimum of three days at the work site and up to two days remote after the training period).
