AI Pay Analysis: To accurately analyze the hourly rate for a “Dialysis Clinical Technician” position in Detroit, MI, it would be essential to consider several factors including the specific hourly wage being offered, the average pay for similar roles in the region, and overall industry standards. As of my last knowledge update in October 2023, the average hourly wage for a Dialysis Clinical Technician typically ranges from $15 to $25 per hour, depending on experience, certifications, and the specific healthcare facility. To determine competitiveness, you would need to compare the offered rate against this range, taking into account the cost of living in Detroit and any relevant benefits associated with the position. If the hourly rate falls above the average or includes attractive benefits, it can be considered competitive; if it is significantly lower, it may not align with industry standards. For a precise evaluation, please provide the specific hourly rate being offered for this role.

Job description:

Northwest Detroit Lasher Dialysis operates as a specialized unit within an outpatient dialysis facility, catering to peritoneal and home dialysis patients with a current census of three peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients. The unit is supported by a dedicated team of full-time nephrologists, as well as both full-time and part-time home nurses, alongside a travel pool of home dialysis technicians. In addition, various support staff, including front desk personnel and technical leaders for machine maintenance, collaborate with the outpatient clinic to assist in operational functions.

Our team manages multiple patients monitored through connected health systems for Baxter and NxStage. Training is conducted within the clinic to empower patients to independently perform dialysis treatments at home. The training durations are approximately 7-10 days for PD and 4-6 weeks for home hemodialysis (HHD). The home nursing team organizes monthly clinic visits for all home patients, including essential lab draws for PD patients. We also provide patient education and facilitate referrals to transplant services as requested by the patients.

The unit typically operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM for patient care, allowing some flexibility based on clinic needs. Home nurses are scheduled for daily after-hours on-call duties, which may extend to weekends. The home clinic is generally closed on most weekends and holidays, subject to training requirements or clinical needs.

General Summary:
Under the supervision of nursing staff, the dialysis technician is responsible for the ongoing monitoring and direct care of hemodialysis patients. This role entails continuous patient monitoring and effective communication with appropriate team members. The technician will work collaboratively within the interdisciplinary team focused on the care of dialysis patients.

Education/Experience Required:
A high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience as a Nursing Assistant (NA), Medical Assistant (MA), or in other healthcare roles. Successful completion of the Greenfield Health Systems dialysis training program is mandatory for ongoing employment.

Certifications/Licenses Required:
Certification as a dialysis technician must be obtained and maintained within 18 months of employment to comply with federal regulations.
