Position Summary

  • Assistant Manager: In the absence of the Account Manager, the Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing and supervising the dining services staff. This role involves providing leadership, support, and guidance to ensure adherence to food quality standards, inventory levels, food safety guidelines, and customer service expectations per federal, state, and local standards and regulations. The Assistant Manager will lead small groups of staff in dining services activities across varying shifts as necessary.
  • Reporting: Assist the Account Manager in maintaining records related to income, expenditures, food supplies, personnel, and equipment, forming reports for HCSG and facility management.
  • Training: Support training, quality control, and in-service sessions for staff to uphold HCSG standards. This includes regularly touring the kitchen to assess work quality and utilizing Quality Control Inspections for documentation. The Assistant Manager must also be proficient in the roles of dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher to provide training and assistance during staff shortages.
  • Communication: Effectively relay directives from client managers, building occupants, and administrators to the HCSG staff.
  • Safety: Properly utilize protective gear for all functions, safely mix and use cleaning solutions while following safety protocols. Timely report equipment needs and malfunctions to a supervisor, ensuring compliance with established standards and safety guidelines. Adhere to infection control and universal precautions to maintain a sanitary environment, including proper reporting, isolation, and handwashing techniques.
  • Punctuality: Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality while completing assigned tasks within scheduled time frames and responding promptly to the paging system.
  • Customer Experience: Represent HCSG positively by following instructions, and exhibiting courtesy and cooperation with supervisors, coworkers, and client staff.
  • Resident Experience: Engage in positive, respectful, and tactful interactions with residents, staff, and facility guests.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrate a positive attitude with the ability to follow oral and written instructions and perform routine, repetitive tasks with diligence.
  • Utilize leadership skills confidently after completing all necessary training, managing responsibilities independently without injury to oneself or others.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Specialized training in food service management and nutrition is preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in quantity food production/service, dining/nutrition, and personnel supervision is desirable.
  • Basic computer proficiency is essential, including record maintenance and report completion, particularly in web-based formats.
  • Completion of an approved sanitation and safety course may be required.
  • Current ServSafe or Food Handler certification is mandatory based on State or County regulations.
  • Dependability to report to work as scheduled and on time is essential.
  • Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies is required, in accordance with state, local, and customer mandates.
  • Ability to lift/carry a maximum of 50 pounds and push/pull a similar weight, along with standing, sitting, bending, and walking for extended periods.

  • Residency within the service area is necessary.
