Position Summary
The Department Manager is responsible for overseeing the food service program at a designated site. Key responsibilities include providing leadership and guidance to ensure adherence to food quality standards, inventory levels, food safety guidelines, and customer service expectations, consistent with current federal, state, and local regulations. The manager will maintain records related to income and expenditures, food supply, personnel, and equipment, reporting this information to HCSG and facility management. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for training and quality assurance of staff, engaging in regular kitchen assessments, and performing essential functions in dietary aide, cook, or dishwasher roles as needed.
Effective communication with client managers and other stakeholders, as well as strict adherence to safety protocols, is essential. Managers should maintain punctuality, uphold high standards in customer and resident experiences, and exhibit positive interactions with all parties involved.
Qualifications
- A positive attitude and the capability to follow both oral and written instructions while performing routine tasks.
- Ability to complete all responsibilities autonomously after appropriate training, ensuring safety for oneself and others.
- A preferred associate’s degree or higher in food service management or hospitality, with coursework encompassing food service or restaurant management.
- Required specialized training in food service management and nutrition, with proof of completion of an approved Conference of Food Protection (CFP) Food Protection Manager (FPM) course within the first 14 days of employment.
- Participation in the Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) course or applicable certification as required by state and county regulations.
- Completion of eLuminate Food Service Manager (FSM) and Long-Term Care Food Service (LTC-FSM) certifications within the first 60 days of employment.
- A minimum of two years of experience in quantity food production/service, dining/nutrition, and personnel supervision is desirable.
- Basic computer skills for record maintenance and reporting, including web-based tracking.
- Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies as mandated by relevant authorities.
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, push/pull the same weight, and maintain physical activity for extended periods.
