Position Summary
Our Manager-in-Training (MIT) program presents an exceptional opportunity to grow within a reputable organization boasting over 45 years of industry experience. As a new associate, you will engage in a tailored interactive program that encompasses approximately twenty (20) weeks of both hands-on and computer-based training. The program covers essential aspects of managing your own account, including:

  • General Training & Comprehension: Master the roles of dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher, while operating and instructing others on a variety of industrial kitchen equipment.
  • Leadership Development: Guide small groups of staff in food preparation, serving, and cleanup across varying shifts.
  • Policies & Procedures: Ensure adherence to food quality standards, inventory levels, food safety guidelines, and customer service expectations, complying with established policies and procedures at all times.
  • Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records related to income, expenditures, food, supplies, personnel, and equipment to submit to HCSG and facility management.
  • Training Oversight: Assume responsibility for the training and quality assurance of staff, conducting regular assessments and assisting in core positions as needed.
  • Managerial Leadership: Execute essential managerial tasks, including payroll submission, staffing strategies, effective coaching, purchasing, inventory management, and budget oversight.

Additional competencies required include:

  • Effective communication of directives from client managers and administrators to HCSG staff.
  • Commitment to safety, including proper use of protective gear and adherence to safety and sanitation protocols.
  • Consistent dependability, punctuality, and responsiveness to operational needs.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated positive attitude and ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to accomplish assigned tasks independently after completing training.
  • Preferred associate’s degree in food service management or hospitality, or relevant coursework in food service or restaurant management from an accredited institution.
  • Required specialized training in foodservice management and nutrition, with proof of or successful completion of an approved CFP Food Protection Manager course within the first 14 days of employment.
  • Participation in the Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) course, adhering to state and county requirements.
  • Must secure eLuminate Food Service Manager (FSM) and Long-Term Care Food Service (LTC-FSM) certifications within the first 60 days.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience in quantity food production/service and personnel supervision is desirable.
  • Basic computer skills necessary for maintaining records and completing reports.
  • Compliance with potential sanitation and safety course completions as required.
  • Punctual and dependable attendance is essential.
  • Compliance with COVID-19 Vaccination Policies, as required.
  • Ability to lift/carry a maximum of 50 pounds, push/pull a maximum of 50 pounds, and remain active in various physical capacities.
  • Ability to work consistently and efficiently around food and cleaning products.
  • Residency within the service area is required.

Compensation for the Dining Services Manager-in-Training position ranges from $18.00 to $28.00 per hour, with specific rates determined by qualifications, experience, education, and operational needs of the service facility.
