The Residential Program Technician reports to the Residential Program Supervisor and is expected to uphold the following qualifications and responsibilities:
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Basic computer skills are necessary.
- A valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record is required.
- Successful completion of an FBI criminal records check, meeting the agency’s standards for moral character.
- A negative drug screening and negative tuberculosis test are mandatory.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills sufficient to fulfill job responsibilities.

Health: The Residential Program Technician must maintain physical and mental health that does not adversely affect the well-being of residents or the quality of care provided. Overall Responsibilities:
The Residential Program Technician operates under the direction of the Program Supervisor, Assistant Supervisor, and Lead Program Technician. Responsibilities include completing all assigned tasks, engaging positively with consumers and coworkers across program areas, and addressing the physical, safety, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of each resident, as outlined in their Individual Plan of Services (IPOS).
Specific Responsibilities:
Program Management
- Adhere to all I.M.P.A.C.T. and regulatory agency policies and procedures.
- Attend all mandatory staff meetings.
- Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Report any changes in consumer or program needs, ensuring that appropriate documentation is completed and supervisors are informed of significant alterations.
- Ensure residents’ personal safety by following all safety guidelines during activities.
- Maintain facility cleanliness, safety, and health through household tasks.
- Prepare and cook meals according to established menus and recipes.
Consumer Services
- Immediately report any suspected abuse or neglect of consumers to your direct Supervisor.
- Uphold the rights of consumers at all times.
- Advocate for residents throughout their tenure at the facility.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, such as bathing, feeding, dressing, personal hygiene, and toileting.
- Administer medications per physician orders, using procedures established by I.M.P.A.C.T.
- Facilitate community integration for consumers through outings, development of friendships, and participation in agency activities.
- Monitor and support the implementation of individual programs as directed in residents’ IPOS, addressing challenging behaviors as necessary.
- Contribute to client goal recommendations through involvement in Person Centered Planning, self-advocacy, and self-determination.
- Be prepared for potential mandatory overtime, work at other agency homes, or schedule adjustments, as required. Compliance with these conditions is a part of employment.
Personnel
- Discuss any concerns or issues with the immediate Supervisor.
- Foster a positive, cooperative, and secure environment within the consumer’s home, avoiding gossip and personal issues that may disrupt the workplace.
- Adhere to all agency health and safety protocols while respecting the cultural differences of staff and consumers, including but not limited to age, sex, religion, sexual orientation, and race.
Staff Development/Training
- Complete new employee orientation and agency training within designated time frames.
- Attend selected training sessions beneficial to the agency and home.
General Agency Responsibilities
- Notify the immediate Supervisor of any changes in employee or resident statuses.
- Keep supervisors informed regarding pertinent issues, including residents’ progress, facility maintenance, staffing concerns, policy violations, and other relevant matters.
- Perform additional activities as assigned by the supervisor, following established agency policies.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding client/consumer information, recognizing the trust placed in employees to safeguard sensitive data concerning clients’ care and treatment. All reports, records, and other data must be treated as confidential, especially those pertaining to communicable diseases. Should any inquiries arise regarding client information, employees must direct such communications to the Executive Director. Information about clients or staff should not be disclosed outside the facility without written consent from the consumer.
