Job description:

The Residential Program Technician plays a vital role in our organization, operating under the direction of the Program Supervisor, Assistant Supervisor, and Lead Program Technician. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, with the expectation of fostering positive interactions with consumers and colleagues across all program areas.

The Technician is responsible for addressing the physical, safety, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of each resident, ensuring that services outlined in the individual’s Individual Plan of Service (IPOS) are delivered competently.

Key responsibilities include:

Program Management:

  • Adhering to all I.M.P.A.C.T. and regulatory agency policies and procedures.
  • Participating in all mandatory staff meetings.
  • Completing all required documentation on time, ensuring accuracy and legibility, whether done electronically or in writing.
  • Reporting any changes in consumer or program needs through appropriate documentation and notifying supervisory staff of any irregularities.
  • Maintaining the personal safety of residents by following established safety protocols during all resident activities.
  • Performing housekeeping duties to ensure that the facility remains clean, safe, and conducive to health.
  • Preparing and cooking meals in accordance with established menus and recipes.

Consumer Services:

  • Promptly reporting any suspected consumer abuse or neglect to the direct Supervisor.
  • Upholding the rights of consumers at all times.
  • Advocating for residents to support their interests during their stay at the facility.
  • Assisting residents with activities of daily living, which may include bathing, feeding, dressing, personal hygiene, and toileting.
  • Administering medications to residents as prescribed, following I.M.P.A.C.T. training procedures.
  • Facilitating community integration opportunities for residents, which may involve outings and participation in Agency-sponsored activities.
  • Monitoring and implementing individual programs for each resident, addressing challenging behaviors as outlined in their IPOS.
  • Actively participating in Person Centered Planning, self-advocacy, and self-determination to recommend client goals.

Personnel Responsibilities:

  • Reporting any issues or concerns directly to the immediate Supervisor.
  • Cultivating a positive, cooperative, and secure atmosphere within the consumer’s home, free from negative influences such as rumors or personal grievances.
  • Adhering to all Agency health and safety policies and procedures while being respectful of the diverse cultural backgrounds of colleagues and consumers.

Staff Development and Training:

  • Completing 100% of the Training Toolbox.
  • Fulfilling the new employee orientation and Agency training requirements within the specified timeframes.
  • Participating in selected training sessions that benefit the Agency and the residential home.

General Agency Responsibilities:

  • Keeping the immediate Supervisor informed about any changes in employee or resident status.
  • Reporting on relevant issues pertaining to resident progress, facility upkeep, staffing concerns, policy violations, and other significant areas.
  • Performing other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor, in alignment with established Agency policies.

Confidentiality is paramount in this position. The Residential Program Technician has access to sensitive information regarding clients and consumers, and must uphold the confidentiality of all records and interactions associated with their care and treatment. Any inquiries from individuals regarding a client or consumer must be referred to the Executive Director without exception.
