This exempt position has a salary range of $95,000 to $105,000.

Responsibilities:

Purpose Statement:
The Director of Facility Operations is responsible for the comprehensive maintenance of the hospital’s buildings, grounds, fixtures, and equipment. This role encompasses oversight of multiple areas, including safety, security, maintenance, facilities, materials management, and housekeeping.

Essential Functions:

  • Supervise general building maintenance activities, including plumbing, carpentry, painting, roofing, minor repairs, and electrical work.
  • Ensure timely completion of preventative maintenance on all equipment.
  • Maintain the facility’s sanitary, attractive, safe, and orderly conditions in compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.
  • Manage staff related to hiring, development, training, performance management, and communication, ensuring the department operates effectively and efficiently.
  • Oversee the proper operations and maintenance of critical systems, including water, emergency electrical, sewage, primary electrical, telephone, fire alarm, heating, and cooling systems.
  • Develop and implement facility maintenance plans, establish timelines for completion, and make recommendations for maintenance projects.
  • Act as project manager for small-scale, short-duration projects.
  • Respond promptly to fire and disaster situations, following emergency protocols.
  • Coordinate with external service vendors and maintenance staff to complete necessary projects.

Other Functions:

  • Perform additional functions and tasks as assigned.

Education/Experience/Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a technical field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare environment is preferred, as is familiarity with Joint Commission and CMS standards.
  • A minimum of two years of college-level construction trade education or five years of practical construction/maintenance experience is required.
  • Ten or more years of supervisory experience in construction/maintenance is preferred.

Licenses/Designations/Certifications:

  • A valid state driver’s license is required where applicable.
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification is mandatory (training will be provided upon hire).
  • First Aid certification may be required based on state or facility regulations.
  • A valid Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) designation is a plus.
