Job description:
Will be responsible for enhancing the visibility of our organization through digital, print, and social media by developing and executing strategic communication initiatives. Key responsibilities include updating the organization’s website, drafting press releases, and providing project management and event coordination support.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to attract and retain families and staff within the school district.
- Maintain effective communication channels with community organizations and respond to inquiries regarding the District’s programs and services.
- Advocate for the community/school philosophy across the district while fostering collaboration with various agencies, clubs, and organizations.
- Oversee alumni engagement strategies.
- Write, edit, and maintain content for the district’s website.
- Assist in the creation of press releases, media kits, brochures, and other communications relevant to the District.
- Coordinate events that are newsworthy for the District, ensuring a positive relationship with media outlets.
- Support the Superintendent, who leads public relations efforts, by aiding in the production of materials, scheduling meetings, and facilitating clear communication with the public.
- Stay informed about professional practices in the field and actively participate in relevant professional organizations.
- Capture photos and videos for use in social media and district publications.
- Support all community relations initiatives, including special district-wide events and volunteer opportunities.
- Assist the District Crisis Communication Team.
- Communicate significant achievements, programs, and projects to stakeholders served by the District.
- Participate in district-wide surveys, including analysis of results.
- Represent the school system at out-of-district meetings as necessary.
- Act as a liaison to provide support to citizen groups in financial elections.
- Keep the Superintendent, staff, trustees, and the community informed about developing legislation that may impact the school district.
- Disseminate information regarding emergency school closures and similar situations as required.
- Collaborate with the technology department to ensure the district website is current and informative.
- Participate in meetings with citizen groups, PTO Council, Board Observers, Budget Council, and staff advisory committees as assigned.
- Collaborate with community organizations to plan and execute co-sponsored projects and district events.
- Attend Board of Education meetings and other relevant meetings as requested.
- Collaborate with Central office staff on community relations projects.
- Manage requests for third-party communications via PeachJar.
- Perform additional administrative duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Qualifications:
