Job Objective
Under general direction, this role involves coordinating and supervising all aspects of daily and periodic cleaning within complexes. Responsibilities include inspecting university living areas to ensure cleanliness, supervising one assistant supervisor and approximately ten custodians, determining the appropriate staffing levels required for various work projects, and engaging with occupants to monitor and uphold cleanliness standards. Additionally, this position may involve coordinating setups for events across all campuses.

  • Supervise the daily activities of the assistant supervisor and custodians; conduct inspections of all assigned areas daily to verify that tasks are executed properly and in an orderly fashion; prepare and submit work schedules as well as biweekly payroll.
  • Evaluate the performance of custodial personnel, prepare and submit disciplinary action and incident reports, and provide counseling to employees as needed.
  • Designate shift and area work assignments for custodians and lead personnel; interpret contractual obligations; conduct training programs for custodial staff; and implement new procedures and policies.
  • Maintain accurate records and correspondence; prepare reports; submit purchase requisitions for supplies; manage supply inventory and accounts; liaise with vendors; and prepare and submit progress reports concerning building conditions.
  • Establish and nurture effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, co-workers, and visitors.
  • Coordinate various cleaning projects; manage the receipt of equipment, uniforms, and paper supplies; and operate all cleaning equipment efficiently.
  • Oversee event setups on all campuses and ensure proper staffing levels for such activities.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position supervises one assistant supervisor and 8-10 custodians.

Minimum Qualifications
The following requirements represent the minimum educational, experiential, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities necessary for this position.

  • Education: High school diploma required.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of three years of progressively responsible custodial work experience, preferably within a hotel, hospital, or residence hall facility.
    • At least two years of supervisory experience.
