This position is for our new Hyatt House property in Lake Orion, MI. The Sales & Marketing Manager will lead the Sales and Catering Events Team, implementing a top-line revenue strategy aimed at traditional sales-related segments, including group, volume, transient, and catering sales. The incumbent will proactively monitor market trends, market share fluctuations, and conduct ongoing competitive hotel analysis, while guiding the property sales teams (rooms and catering) to ensure that budgeted revenues are met or exceeded. Furthermore, the Sales & Marketing Manager will develop and execute a marketing communications plan designed to establish the desired positioning for the hotel and will oversee the sales and marketing budget to support these revenue objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
– Lead and enhance top-line revenue generation for traditional sales segments, including group, volume, transient, and catering.
– Meet or exceed company quarterly sales targets.
– Evaluate and respond to market trends, market share, and the competitive hotel landscape.
– Develop and implement a marketing communications plan tailored to achieve the desired positioning of the hotel while managing the sales and marketing budget in support of all initiatives.
– Serve as the hotel’s voice of the customer, effectively communicating key issues and concerns throughout all organizational levels.
– Understand and articulate market trends, demand generators, supply and demand factors, and economic impacts on hotel performance.
– Conduct thorough competitive set reviews and analyses, while monitoring new supply sources.
– Formulate a strategic plan to penetrate primary markets.
– Develop and implement strategies for key segments while managing existing and prospective accounts.
– Design effective sales deployment strategies and market assignments.
– Establish sales goals aimed at achieving budgetary and market share objectives.
– Manage group pace metrics and set sales production goals.
– Oversee sales activities and perform additional duties as directed by the General Manager.
Job Requirements / Minimum Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Marketing preferred.
– Minimum of three years’ experience as a sales director, with prior hotel sales and hospitality experience.
– Proficiency in engaging with and communicating with ownership groups and management.
– Competence in utilizing sales automation and property management systems.
– Proven ability to collaborate with revenue management teams effectively.
– Comprehensive understanding of all market segments and channel sources, with the capability to develop strategic plans for each.
– Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
– Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities, with a proven capacity to function effectively within a team environment.
– Experience in directing, leading, training, motivating, and inspiring a direct sales team while fostering a cooperative and competitive spirit.
– Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
– Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
