The Director of Security, in collaboration with the Chief of Security, will oversee all security functions, ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the Security Department. This role is pivotal in maximizing the safety and protection of both employees and guests, thereby facilitating optimal guest engagement and achieving profitability goals. The Director will also manage major event coordination, special projects, and security risk analysis, addressing overall security concerns for large events held on the property.
In your day-to-day responsibilities, you will direct daily security operations, including staffing, training, event management, incident response, and administrative functions. You will assess ongoing security training initiatives, including standard operating procedures, emergency protocols, and guest service training, and implement necessary changes to address service and operational gaps. Compliance with MGMRI policies as well as federal, state, and local laws is essential, and you will effectively communicate any policy or procedural updates to ensure adherence within property and security operations.
You will be responsible for consistently patrolling the property and other areas under your jurisdiction, managing a fleet of resources, and overseeing various security operations programs, such as the Lost and Found initiative, while ensuring preventative measures are actively enforced. Additionally, you will assist the Chief of Security in identifying critical threats, gathering intelligence, and analyzing incidents at the property level, assessing their potential impact on the company, employees, customers, and facilities.
Building and developing high-performing teams is a key aspect of your role. You will be involved in recruiting, implementing training and certification programs, coaching, conducting performance reviews, and aiding in professional development. Identifying and integrating personnel best practices, methodologies, and equipment from the security industry will be crucial to meeting and exceeding performance standards.
Collaboration with key internal stakeholders in cross-functional Centers of Excellence will be essential in formulating both short-term and long-term strategies to enhance the guest experience.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, along with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience. Proven leadership skills, strategic thinking capabilities, and critical decision-making abilities are essential in this role. Additionally, you should be adept at de-escalating situations, both verbally and physically, particularly in potentially volatile circumstances.
